Cordia alliodora is one of several Cordia trees called bocote in Spanish and its wood, which has very little figure, is usually called freijo or jennywood along with that of Cordia goeldiana.

Outside of its indigenous range, Cordia alliodora has been identified as a problematic invasive species.

The provincial flower is ดอกโสน ( Dok Sano ) Sesbania aculeata, and the provincial tree is the Fragrant Manjack ( Cordia dichotoma ).

The larger islands have a dense interior vegetation of Cordia subcordata ( tou ); indeed, the westernmost island, Motu Tou is named after this woodland, its name literally means " high island ".

In the 1990s, djembes started being produced elsewhere, such as in Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, and Bali, often using modern machinery and substitute species of wood, such as tweneboa ( Cordia platythyrsa ) or mahogany ( Swietenia mahagoni ).

Anacahuita ( Cordia boissieri ), Ocotillo ( Fouquieria splendens ), Lechuguilla, and Yucca filifera are the most common species in the southeastern part of the desert.
