The Dickson charge pump, or Dickson multiplier, is a modification of the Greinacher / Cockcroft – Walton multiplier.

The Dickson charge pump, or Dickson multiplier, consists of a cascade of diode / capacitor cells with the bottom plate of each capacitor driven by a clock pulse train.

There are many variations and improvements to the basic Dickson charge pump.

In September 1817 at Fort Daer ( Pembina ) Dickson met the noble lord whom, with the help of a band of Sioux, he escorted to Prairie Du Chien.

Edison, along with assistant W. K. L. Dickson, followed that up with the Kinetophone, which combined the Kinetoscope with Edison's cylinder phonograph.

Careless Rapture ran from 11 September 1936 for 296 performances, with Novello, Dorothy Dickson and Zena Dare in the leading roles.

The result, with Whitmark and Charles Dickson writing the libretto, was Three Twins, which opened in 1908 and ran for 288 performances ( Harbach was paid a hundred dollars for his work ).

Dickson, the Scottish-French inventor credited with the invention of the motion picture camera under the employ of Thomas Edison.

In the earliest years, the program was hosted by " The Man in Black " ( played by Joseph Kearns or Ted Osborne ) with many episodes written or adapted by the prominent mystery author John Dickson Carr.

The diode-wired MOSFET version of the Dickson multiplier does not work very well at very low voltages because of the large drain-source volt drops of the MOSFETs.

Dickson multipliers have increasingly poor power conversion efficiency as the input voltage drops because the voltage drop across the diode-wired transistors becomes much more significant compared to the output voltage.

On Big Stone Lake near the headwaters of the Red River, Robert Dickson, Superintendent of the Western Indian Department of Canada, had a trading post and planned in 1818 to build a fort to be defended by twenty men and two small artillery pieces.

It was Dickson who suggested to Lord Selkirk that he return to the Atlantic coast by way of the United States.

The last of these, a tale of multiple homicide upon a Nile steamer, was judged by the celebrated detective novelist John Dickson Carr to be among the ten greatest mystery novels of all time.

The Chess concept album-with vocals by Elaine Paige, Barbara Dickson, Murray Head and Swedes Tommy Körberg and Björn Skifs-was released in October 1984, selling two million copies worldwide.

The " puzzle " approach was carried even further into ingenious and seemingly impossible plots by John Dickson Carr — also writing as Carter Dickson — who is regarded as the master of the " locked room mystery ", and Cecil Street, who also wrote as John Rhode, whose detective, Dr. Priestley, specialised in elaborate technical devices, while in the US the whodunnit was adopted and extended by Rex Stout and Ellery Queen, among others.

He picked up the nickname " Andy " at Cornell, where tradition confers that moniker on any male student surnamed White, after Cornell co-founder Andrew Dickson White.

As a result of the work of Étienne-Jules Marey and Eadweard Muybridge, many researchers in the late 19th century realized that films as they are known today were a practical possibility, but the first to design a fully successful apparatus was W. K. L. Dickson, working under the direction of Thomas Alva Edison.

The results of this work were first shown in public in 1893, using the viewing apparatus also designed by Dickson, and called the Kinetoscope.

The other important American competitor was the American Mutoscope & Biograph Company, which used a new camera designed by Dickson after he left the Edison company.
