Cesare Borgia (;, ; 13 September 1475 or April 1476 – 12 March 1507 ), Duke of Valentinois, was an Italian condottiero, nobleman, politician, and cardinal.

On the same day the French King Louis XII named Cesare Duke of Valentinois, and this title, along with his former position as Cardinal of Valencia, explains the nickname " Valentino ".

In 1684 he married in Racconigi, Princess Angela Catherina d ' Este ( 1656 – 1722 ), granddaughter of Cesare I d ' Este, Duke of Modena.

In 1502, Cesare Borgia, with the connivance of his Papal father, Alexander VI, dispossessed Duke Guidobaldo and Elisabetta Gonzaga.

When Lucrezia ’ s second husband, Alfonso, the Duke of Bisceglie, was no longer important to the Borgias, Cesare strangled him ( or had him strangled ) when he was still recovering from another attempt of assassination on his life.

When the papacy refused to recognize his illegitimate successor the court moved in 1598 under Cesare d ' Este, Duke of Modena.

Trotti not only was pardoned by the new Duke of Modena, Cesare d ' Este, but increased in prestige.

Because one of the conspirators, Gianfrancesco Sanvitale, falsely implicated several Italian monarchs, namely Vincenzo Gonzaga, Duke of Mantua and Cesare d ' Este, Duke of Modena, in the plot, Vincenzo and Cesares ' names appeared on the list of conspirators during formal court proceedings ; as a result, Ranuccio's reputation among the monarchs of Italy was irreparably damaged because it was evident that he gave credence to Gianfrancesco's obviously false confession.

Louis XII created Cesare Borgia Duke of Valentinois in 1498.

Alexander VI had allied himself with Louis XII in return for the King's support in establishing a realm for Alexander's son Cesare Borgia, the Duke of Valentinois, in Romagna.

Alexander VI alleged that Caterina signed documents renouncing all of her fiefs, because in the meantime his son Cesare, with the acquisition of Pesaro, Rimini and Faenza, was appointed Duke of Romagna.

She was the Duchess of Modena and Reggio by marriage to Cesare d ' Este, Duke of Modena.

On 6 February 1586 Virginia married Cesare d ' Este, Duke of Modena, son of Alfonso d ' Este, Lord of Montecchio, and Giulia della Rovere.

On 7 April 1517, Louis II de la Trémoille married 16 year-old Louise Borgia, Duchess of Valentinois, the only legitimate child of Cesare Borgia, Duke of Valentinois by his French wife Charlotte of Albret.
