As in English, the Hebrew word for " love ", ahavah אהבה, is used to describe intimate or romantic feelings or relationships, such as the love between parent and child in Genesis 22: 2 ; 25: 28 ; 37: 3 ; the love between close friends in I Samuel 18: 2, 20: 17 ; or the love between a young man and young woman in Song of Songs.

In some Buddhist temples and monasteries, Guanyin's image is occasionally that of a young man dressed in Northern Song Dynasty Buddhist robes and seated gracefully.

The protagonists of Song of Songs are a woman ( identified in one verse as " the Shulamite ") and a man, and the poem suggests movement from courtship to consummation.

Rabbi Akiba declared, " Heaven forbid that any man in Israel ever disputed that Song of Songs is holy.

For example, a song written in 1860 about a man fleeing slavery in Tennessee by escaping to Canada, entitled Song of the Free, was composed to the tune of Oh!

The earliest known depiction of a fishing reel comes from a Southern Song ( 1127 – 1279 ) painting done in 1195 by Ma Yuan ( c. 1160 – 1225 ) called " Angler on a Wintry Lake ," showing a man sitting on a small sampan boat while casting out his fishing line.

Song Li's improvements, recommended by a local man named Bai Ying, included damming the rivers Wen and Guang and drawing lateral canals from them to feed reservoir lakes at the very summit, at a small town called Nanwang.

It is said that in the late Southern Song Dynasty, a man named Cheung Chun () dropped a pail full of ancestral heirlooms into the bay as he sailed back to the area with the navy.

In 1987, the most important man for the transmission of Taekkyon, Song Duk-ki who was given national treasure status by the South Korean government, died at the age of 94.

The music of the Monkees often featured rather dark subject matter beneath a superficially bright, happy sound ( the song " Last Train to Clarksville ", for instance, is actually about a young man who has been drafted, and is trying to arrange one last date with his girlfriend before he ships out, and includes the line " And I don't know if I'm ever coming home "); the music of the film takes the darkness and occasional satirical elements of the Monkees ' earlier tunes and makes it far more overt, as in " Ditty Diego-War Chant ", or " Daddy's Song ," which has Jones singing an upbeat, Broadway-style number about a boy abandoned by his father.

* In a tribute to the hero, Crash Test Dummies wrote " Superman's Song " eulogizing the hero and lamenting that " the world will never see another man like him.

" It is soon learned that Jinbao is also carrying on an affair with the Boss's number two man, Song ( Sun Chun ).

By the seventh day, Song arrives to the island along with Zheng ( Fu Biao ), the Boss's number three man.

The oldest confirmed written mention of dominoes in China comes from the Former Events in Wulin ( i. e. the capital Hangzhou ) written by the Yuan Dynasty ( 1271 – 1368 ) author Zhou Mi ( 1232 – 1298 ), who listed " pupai " ( gambling plaques or dominoes ) as well as dice as items sold by peddlers during the reign of Emperor Xiaozong of Song ( r. 1162 – 1189 ).

But he who brings charges against me for relating the objections that the Hebrews are wont to raise against the Story of Susanna, the Song of the Three Children, and the story of Bel and the Dragon, which are not found in the Hebrew volume, proves that he is just a foolish sycophant.

An example of such would be Qian Xuan ( 1235 – 1305 AD ), who was an official of the Song Dynasty, but out of patriotism, refused to serve the Yuan court and dedicated himself to painting.

Although high level of stylization, mystical appeal, and surreal elegance were often preferred over realism ( such as in shan shui style ), beginning with the medieval Song Dynasty there were many Chinese painters then and afterwards who depicted scenes of nature that were vividly real.

The gravi-kora has been adopted by kora players such as Daniel Berkman, Jacques Burtin, Le Chant de la Forêt ( The Song of the Forest ), suite for kora, gravi-kora, flute and viola, and Foday Musa Suso, who featured it in recordings with jazz innovator Herbie Hancock, with his band Mandingo, and on Suso's New World Power album.

Explosive land mines were being used in 1277 AD by the Song Dynasty Chinese against an assault of the Mongols, who were besieging a city in southern China.

Bart D. Ehrman referred to a work by an early anonymous Christian writer ( perhaps Hippolytus, a Christian leader in Rome around 200 AD ) who in a commentary on the Old Testament book Song of Songs, wrote that Jesus first appeared to the women at the tomb.

The relationship between the two forms is most obvious in the composers who concentrated on sacred music, especially Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, whose " motets " setting texts from the Canticum Canticorum, the biblical " Song of Solomon ," are among the most lush and madrigal-like of Palestrina's compositions, while his " madrigals " that set poems of Petrarch in praise of the Blessed Virgin Mary would not be out of place in church.

In the Middle Ages, the Mongol Empire's campaign against China ( then comprising the Western Xia Dynasty, Jin Dynasty, and Southern Song Dynasty ) by Genghis Khan until Kublai Khan, who eventually established the Yuan Dynasty in 1271, with their armies was extremely effective, allowing the Mongols to sweep through large areas.

In 1561 Luis de León, a Spanish lyric poet and an Augustinian friar, translated the Song of Songs into Spanish for his cousin, Isabel Osorio, a nun who could not read the Latin text, and wrote an accompanying commentary.

Key gave the poem to his brother-in-law, Judge Joseph H. Nicholson, who saw that the words fit the popular melody " The Anacreontic Song ", by English composer John Stafford Smith.

The director also employed Peter Handke, who wrote much of the dialogue, the poetic narrations, and the film's recurring poem " Song of Childhood.

* 1075: Chinese official and diplomat Shen Kuo asserts the Song Dynasty's rightful border lines by using court archives against the bold bluff of Emperor Daozong of Liao, who had asserted that Liao Dynasty territory exceeded its earlier-accepted bounds.

* 1098: the Dongpo Academy of Hainan, China is built in honor of the Song Dynasty Chinese official and poet Su Shi, who was exiled there for criticizing reforms of the New Policies Group.
