Sefer and ha-Yarḥi
The printed edition ( Presburg, 1838 ), prepared by M. L. Bislichis, contains: ( 1 ) Preface ; ( 2 ) a treatise of eighteen chapters on the incorporeality of God ; ( 3 ) correspondence ; ( 4 ) a treatise, called Sefer ha-Yarḥi, included also in letter 58 ; ( 5 ) a defense of The Guide and its author by Shem-Tob Palquera ( Grätz, Gesch.
From references in later treatises such as the Sefer ha-Manhig by Rabbi Abraham ben Nathan ha-Yarḥi ( c. 1204 ), it appears that even at that later time the Spanish rite preserved certain European peculiarities that have since been eliminated in order to conform to the rulings of the Geonim and the official texts based on them.

Sefer and refers
According to the Medieval Jewish scholar, Rashi, Sefer HaYashar refers to the Pentateuch, as a fulfillment of Jacob's prophecy regarding Ephraim “ His seed Ephraim will fill the nations .” ( Gen. 48: 19 ) that this refer's to Joshua's renown after the miracle of the standing of the sun.
In the " Sefer ha-Kabbalah " he refers to Gabirol as a poet in complimentary phrase.

Sefer and great
The completion of the sefer Torah is a cause for great celebration, and it is a Mitzvah for every Jew to either write or have written for him a Sefer Torah.
Although he professes great reverence for the " Sefer Yetẓirah ," from which he quotes many passages, he hastens to add that the theories of Abraham elucidated therein had been held by the patriarch before God revealed Himself to him.
In Sefer Haoth Abulafia describes a similar episode, but from an explicit self-perspective :" I saw a man coming from the west with a great army, the number of the warriors of his camp being twenty-two thousand men And when I saw his face in the sight, I was astonished, and my heart trembled within me, and I left my place and I longed for it to call upon the name of God to help me, but that thing evaded my spirit.
He wrote a great number of tosafot, many of which are to be found in his " Sefer ha-Yashar "; but not all, as many passages that are cited in the edited tosafot are not found in the work just mentioned.
This Sefer ha-Yashar was used a great deal by later Talmudists and introduced the form of literature called Tosafot ' Additional Notes '.
The Sefer ha-Yashar describes Cainan, the possessor of great astrological wisdom, which had been inscribed on tables of stone, as the son of Seth and not of Arpachshad ; i. e., the antediluvian Kenan.
A completed Sefer Torah is treated with great honor and respect.

According to a Jewish legend, one of the Essenes, named Menachem, had passed at least some of his mystical knowledge to the Talmudic mystic Nehunya ben HaKanah, to whom the Kabbalistic tradition attributes Sefer HaBahir and, by some opinions, Sefer HaKanah, Sefer HaPeliah and Sefer HaTemunah.

Sefer and rabbis
The Mishneh Torah (, " Repetition of the Torah ") subtitled Sefer Yad HaHazaka ( ספר יד החזקה " Book of the Strong Hand ,") is a code of Jewish religious law ( Halakha ) authored by Maimonides ( Rabbi Moshe ben Maimon, also known as RaMBaM or " Rambam "), one of history's foremost rabbis.
In a pamphlet named Baruch Hagever, published in 1994, and a book called Baruch Hagever: Sefer Zikaron la-Kadosh Baruch Goldstein in 1995, various rabbis praised Goldstein's action as a pre-emptive strike in response to Hamas threats of a pogrom, and wrote that it is possible to view his act as following five Halachic principles.
In 1240 he was one of the four rabbis who were required to defend the Talmud, in a public disputation in Paris, and it is likely that the need for a work like the Sefer Mitzvot Gadol was driven by the decrees against the Talmud which had been promulgated in France, and had led to the confiscation and burning of all Talmud manuscripts in 1242.
