Jacob ben Meir, ( 1100, Ramerupt – 9 June 1171 ( 4 tammuz ), Troyes ), best known as Rabbeinu Tam, was one of the most renowned French Tosafists, a leading halakhic authority in his generation, and a grandson of Rashi.

Jacob ben Abba Mari ben Simson Anatoli ( c. 1194 – 1256 ) was a translator of Arabic texts to Hebrew.

Another famous contemporary of Ḳimḥi was Rabbi Jacob b. Meïr, surnamed " Rabbeinu Tam ," of Ramerupt, who was the greatest Talmudic authority of the day.
