Kotoōshū Katsunori ( 琴欧洲 勝紀 ) ( born February 19, 1983 as Kaloyan Stefanov Mahlyanov,, in Dzhulyunitsa, Veliko Tarnovo Province, Bulgaria ) is a professional sumo wrestler or rikishi.

In the east the Empire was overrun by the Seljuk Turks ; from the north Bulgarians and Vlachs descended unchecked to ravage the plains of Macedonia and Thrace, and Kaloyan of Bulgaria annexed several important cities, while Alexios squandered the public treasure on his palaces and gardens and attempted to deal with the crisis through diplomatic means.

* 1199: Pope Innocent III writes to Kaloyan, inviting him to unite the Bulgarian Church with the Roman Catholic Church.

* Tsar Kaloyan is recognized as king of Bulgaria by Pope Innocent III after the creation of the Bulgarian Uniate church.

* Kaloyan becomes Tsar of Bulgaria.

The Battle of Adrianople occurred on April 14, 1205 between Bulgarians under Tsar Kaloyan of Bulgaria, and Crusaders under Baldwin I.

" Kaloyan, Tzar ( Emperor ) of Wallachia and Bulgaria, came to succour Adrianople with a very great army.

It was arranged by the Crusaders that Geoffry the Marshal, and Manasses of l ' Isle should guard the camp, and that the Emperor Baldwin and all the remainder of the army should issue from the camp if Kaloyan came and offered battle.

Theodore entered into an alliance with Kaloyan and took the offensive in 1209.

In 1201, Kaloyan took over the Varna fortress, then in Byzantine hands, on Holy Saturday using a siege tower, and secured it for the Second Bulgarian Empire.

He lost his final battle to Kaloyan, the emperor of Bulgaria, and spent his last days as his prisoner.

At any rate, Tsar Kaloyan wrote to Pope Innocent III, reporting that Baldwin had died in prison.

Henry was a wise ruler, whose reign was largely passed in successful struggles with Kaloyan, Tsar of Bulgaria, and with his rival, Theodore I Lascaris, emperor of Nicaea.
