Some notable collectors were Pope Boniface VIII, Emperor Maximilian of the Holy Roman Empire, Louis XIV of France, Ferdinand I, Henry IV of France and Elector Joachim II of Brandenburg, who started the Berlin Coin Cabinet ( German: Münzkabinett Berlin ).

In short time, both Henry VIII, King of England ( 1509 – 47 ), and Maximilian I also joined the " Holy League of 1511.

In the interests of Henry VII he visited the German king Maximilian I and George, Duke of Saxony ; in 1506 he negotiated an important commercial treaty with Flanders, and he attempted to arrange marriages between the king's daughter Mary and the future emperor Charles V, and between the king himself and Charles's sister Margaret.

Maximilian of Baden ( also known as Max von Baden ; full name: Maximilian Alexander Friedrich Wilhelm of Baden ) ( 10 July 1867 – 6 November 1929 ) was a German prince and politician.

Innsbruck became the capital of all Tyrol in 1429 and in the fifteenth century the city became a centre of European politics and culture as emperor Maximilian I also resided in Innsbruck in the 1490s.

Maximilian II ( July 11, 1662 – February 26, 1726 ), also known as Max Emanuel or Maximilian Emanuel, was a Wittelsbach ruler of Bavaria and a ' Kurfürst of the Holy Roman Empire.

The next year, he was summoned back to Austria by his father, the Emperor ; Burgundy was left to be governed by Margaret together with the Burgundian Estates, both of whom also undertook the guardianship of the young Duke Philip, although Maximilian continued to take a distant interest in the country, and a greater interest in his children.
