After the year's previous success, King had Brown sign a new recording contract and in June 1965, released " Papa's Got a Brand New Bag ", which became his breakthrough hit single, becoming his first # 1 single on the R & B chart since " Try Me " and his first Top 10 pop single winning Brown his first Grammy.

The band's first involvement was on the 1994 demo of " Dark & Gray " on his Bootleg Series Tapes, they would make three more appearances on the tapes in Watch Me Come, Only a Dog and Box # 10.

Two Elvis Presley records made the R & B top five in 1957: " Jailhouse Rock "/" Treat Me Nice " at # 1, and " All Shook Up " at # 5, an unprecedented acceptance of a non-African American artist into a music category known for being created by blacks.

" Laugh At Me " was released in 1965 and peaked at # 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The coda of " Earth Angel ," with the repeatedly harmonized word " You-oo ... you-oo ... you-oo ... you-oo ," had previously been heard in the Dominoes ' # 5 R & B cover of " These Foolish Things Remind Me Of You.

She created hits with the songs " Got a Hold on Me " ( Top 10 pop and # 1 adult contemporary ) and " Love Will Show Us How " (# 30 ).

In 1990, the band ( now without Lindsey Buckingham ) recorded Behind the Mask, but the album only reached ' Gold ' status in the U. S. The album did however, enter the UK album chart at # 1, but there were no UK hits from the album and only Christine's song " Save Me " made the US Top 40.

He returned to the top of the charts in 1991 with the album Put Me in Your Mix, which reached # 8 on the Billboard R & B Albums chart and the song by the same name reached # 2 on the Billboard R & B singles chart.

Capdown released their Civil Disobedients album, featuring the track Dub # 1, while Sonic Boom Six and The King Blues take heavy influences from dub, mixing the genre with original punk ethics and attitudes.
