From the neolithic age Asia Minor was the route of the forward-Asiatic cultural stream which moved from the Near East to the west and spread the agriculture to the east coasts of Greece and Crete during the 5th millennium BC and then to the Balkan region and the whole of Europe.

Jordan is situated geographically in Southwest Asia, south of Syria, west of Iraq northwest of Saudi Arabia and east of Israel and the West Bank ; politically, the area has also been referred to in the West as the Middle or Near East.

Ukraine's various highland regions include the Volyn-Podillia Upland and the Near-Dnipro Upland ( on the right bank of Dnipro River ) in the west, the south-western spurs of the Central Russian Uplands upon which runs the border with Russia in the east, and the Donets Ridge and the Near Azov Upland near the Sea of Azov.

Proso millet appears to have reached Europe not long after its appearance in Georgia, first appearing in east and central Europe ; however, the grain needed a few thousand more years to cross into Italy, Greece, and Iran, and the earliest evidence for its cultivation in the Near East is a find in the ruins of Nimrud, Iraq dated to about 700 BC.

Near the east end of the county, at exit 8, U. S. Route 22 merges with I-78, running concurrently for the next.

Sippar ( Sumerian: Zimbir ) was an ancient Near Eastern city on the east bank of the Euphrates river, located at the site of modern Tell Abu Habbah in Iraq's Babil Governorate, some 60 km north of Babylon and 30 km southeast of Baghdad.

From the Medieval Arabic king lists of both African states, allegedly copied from earlier lists in ancient Near Eastern languages it appears that the state founders claimed to be deportees of the Assyrian empire who had fled from Syria and Samaria after the defeat of the Egyptian-Assyrian army at Carchemish in 605 BCE.

She died on 22 December 1943 at her home in Near Sawrey at age 77, leaving almost all her property to the National Trust.
