Peter David's novel Imzadi explores the backstory between Riker and Troi, and its sequel Triangle: Imzadi II covers the cooling of the Worf / Troi relationship, which was left unexplained on screen.

He said: " When I got married my best man was Brent ( Spiner, who portrayed the ST: TNG character Lieutenant Commander Data ) and my groomsmen were Michael ( Dorn, Lieutenant Worf ) and Jonathan ( Frakes, Commander Riker ) and Patrick ( Stewart, Captain Picard ).

* Data states " There is no record of any Federation vessel encountering anything remotely like this " despite the fact Captain Kirk encountered just such an area of blackness in The Immunity Syndrome, which fits the " old Klingon legend a gigantic black space creature which was said to devour entire vessels ", that Worf recalls perfectly.

Worf would later reappear among the regular characters in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine ( 1993 ) and B ' Elanna Torres, a Klingon-human hybrid, would become a main character on Star Trek: Voyager ( 1995 ).

Worf was born in 2340 on the Klingon homeworld as the son of Mogh.

Worf believed Gowron was the legitimate ruler and convinced his brother to bring forces loyal to him into battle on Gowron's behalf.

Worf resigned from Starfleet to fight for Gowron and served on his brother's ship.

Worf avoided romantic attachments with non-Klingons during his first few years on board the Enterprise-D. As Worf explained to both Riker and Guinan, he felt that non-Klingon females would be too fragile, and that he would have to restrain himself too much.

While on a mission to the Gamma Quadrant, Worf was captured and sent to a prison camp where he met the real General Martok and was reunited with the real Dr. Bashir, who had both been captured and replaced by changelings.

Worf continued to serve on the Rotaran after Sisko withdrew from DS9 at the beginning of the Dominion War.

Shortly after Alexander's decision, he witnesses Worf being killed on the floor of the High Council.

After Terran rebels take over Terek Nor, Worf tries to recapture the station but is defeated by the rebels who have a new ship based on the design of the Defiant.

When the Klingon forces suffer a crushing defeat, Worf agrees to Nero's demand to board a shuttle and come on board the Narada.

When Captain Data agrees, Worf is beamed back to the ship, giving the Narada time to fire on the Enterprise.

The episode " Heart of Glory ", which focuses on Worf and his relationship to other Klingons, is credited with planting " many seeds for successive Klingon storylines ... and new insights into Klingon culture ".

Filk artists Ookla the Mok included a song about Worf entitled " Mr. W " on their 2004 album Oh Okay LA.

Unlike his TNG co-stars, this was Michael Dorn's second Star Trek film, having appeared on Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, portraying his TNG character's grandfather, Colonel Worf, who defended Kirk and McCoy on their trial.

In the episode " By Inferno's Light ", Martok escapes and returns to the Alpha Quadrant with Elim Garak, Worf, and Julian Bashir, and is made commander of the Klingon forces on Deep Space Nine.

After Data died, it was mentioned in a deleted scene of Star Trek: Nemesis that Worf is now taking care of her on board the Enterprise.

He also reprised his role of Riker for a Next Generation cutaway on an episode of Family Guy that also featured his co-stars Patrick Stewart and Michael Dorn as their respective roles of Picard and Worf.

In " Sons of Mogh ", she supports Worf's attempt to kill his brother Kurn, and in " Soldiers of the Empire " she and Worf go on a tense mission aboard a Klingon ship.

Upon her death in the infirmary, an agonized Worf screams out a Klingon wail of sorrow for his beloved and to let the Klingon afterworld know a warrior was on the way ( Heart of Glory ).

Her untimely death shakes the crew to its core: by the beginning of season 7, Sisko has left the station in despair, and Worf has been risking his life on increasingly dangerous missions.

Several episodes focus on Ezri Dax resolving her relationship with Worf, and the subsequent development of a romantic relationship with Dr. Julian Bashir.

Bashir falls in love with Jadzia, who goes on to marry Worf.

Worf felt the war was wrong and he could not support it.

He felt that the ritual, which involved Worf killing him, was the only way to restore his honor.

Though the deception was soon revealed, Worf felt that the clone could still play a valuable role in Klingon society.

The station's first appearance in Star Trek: The Next Generation was during the sixth season episode " Birthright " and in addition, two Next Generation characters, Miles O ' Brien and ( from Season 4 onwards ) Worf, became regular members of DS9.

After the invasion had begun, Gowron traveled to DS9 to ask Worf to join him in battle.

In early 2373, Worf became involved with DS9 science officer Jadzia Dax who was a Trill woman.

In the DS9 episode " Change of Heart ", Worf prematurely ends a mission to contact a Cardassian informant inside the Dominion in order to save his injured wife.

Her quick posting to DS9 led to a number of awkward moments between her and Worf since the new host carries all the memories of their former hosts but has its own distinct personality.

However, Worf declined in favor of Martok ( DS9: " Tacking Into the Wind ").

They follow Klingon customs as first taught to them by Worf ( DS9: " Children of Time ").

Worf agreed to let Zek go in exchange for a cloaking device but the device was sabotaged and his ship was disabled allowing the Terrans rebels to capture him ( DS9: " Emperor's New Cloak ").

In 1995, with TNG over, the writers of DS9 came up with the idea of adding Worf to the cast in response to pressure to boost ratings .< ref name =" charting "> Source: " Charting New Territory ".

Shortly after the end of the war, Martok and Worf leave DS9 for Qo ' noS (" What You Leave Behind ").

* A hearing is held to decide whether to extradite Worf to the Klingons in the DS9 episode " Rules of Engagement "

The station's chief science officer, she marries her fellow DS9 officer Lieutenant Commander Worf but their family happiness is destroyed when she is killed by a Cardassian Gul Dukat possessed by a Pah-wraith.

Other Star Trek actors such as Michael Dorn ( Worf on TNG ), Brent Spiner ( Data on TNG ), Colm Meaney ( Miles O ’ Brien on TNG and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine ), LeVar Burton ( Geordi La Forge on TNG ), Nichelle Nichols ( Uhura on Star Trek: The Original Series ), Avery Brooks ( Benjamin Sisko on DS9 ), Paul Winfield ( Clark Terrell in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan ), David Warner ( various characters, most notably Gul Madred in " Chain of Command ", a two-part episode of TNG ) and Kate Mulgrew ( Kathryn Janeway on Star Trek: Voyager ) were guest or recurring stars in the series.

On DS9, Worf interferes with Odo's investigation as he acclimates to living on the station and no longer being Chief of Security.

Along with Worf, O ' Brien is one of the two main characters that moved from TNG onto DS9.

The USS Enterprise NCC-1701E, staffed by its usual crew ( except for Worf, who's on DS9 ), is on a mission from Starfleet command, to assist Lem Faal, a Betazoid scientist, in breaching the barrier which encircles the Milky Way Galaxy.
