The route southward of Exit 6A in Wall was also originally intended to extend to the Brielle Circle and terminate at Route 34, Route 35, and Route 70 but there are no plans to do so currently.

Exits include New Jersey Route 34, County Route 537 ( Colts Neck Road ), New Jersey Route 79 ( South Main Street ), County Route 520, and County Route 3 ( Tennent Road ), while passing through Freehold and Marlboro.

In 2001, the Brielle Circle was replaced with a new four-approach interchange between Route 35, Route 34 and Route 70, but the project included no hint of the Route 18 Extension.

Some major highway routes include ferry services, such as U. S. Route 10, which crosses Lake Michigan.

Longstreet is remembered through numerous places that bear his name in and around Gainesville, Georgia, including Longstreet Bridge, a portion of U. S. Route 129 that crosses the Chattahoochee River ( later dammed to form Lake Sidney Lanier ), and the local Longstreet Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.

Just north of this, the route crosses the Ten Mile River and then enters a complicated five-way intersection with US 1 and Route 1A.

Here, the route passes residences and crosses County Route 643 ( Mountain Avenue ) before coming to an intersection with County Route 626 ( Somerset Street ).

The route crosses County Route 529 ( Washington Avenue ) in the downtown area of Dunellen.

Route 28 crosses into Plainfield, Union County, where it becomes county-maintained Front Street, resuming northeast through residential and industrial areas before entering a more residential environment.

The route crosses the Raritan Valley Line before turning northeast on a one-way pair, with eastbound Route 28 following Fifth Street and westbound Route 28 following Fourth Street.

Past this interchange, Route 28 becomes West Westfield Avenue and crosses into Roselle Park, where it continues through a mix of residences and commercial establishments, where it crosses over the Raritan Valley Line and intersects with County Route 617 ( Faitoute Avenue / Gordon Street ) before heading into the downtown area of Roselle Park.

Over the weeks, America's first Star Route Air Mail settled into a routine pattern despite the vagaries of weather and the lack of ground facilities and aids to navigation.

It is reached by Route 198, which extends inland from the northern shore of the peninsula, soon climbing into the mountains and entering vast forests, crossing several small rivers before reaching the town.

Near Kirkland Lake, a northern spur route of the Trans-Canada extends eastward from Highway 11, following Ontario's Highway 66 (), then Quebec's Route 117 () and Autoroute 15 () into Montreal.

From Moncton, the highway continues southeast for to a junction at Aulac on the New Brunswick – Nova Scotia border ( near Sackville ) where the Trans-Canada Highway splits into the main route continuing to the nearby border with Nova Scotia as Route 2, and a route designated as Route 16 which runs east to the Confederation Bridge at Cape Jourimain.

Upon reaching Shelton, U. S. 101 turns into a two lane bypass that changes to a freeway at the junction of State Route 3, merging with State Route 8 and finally ending at Interstate 5.

In 2008, the portion of Route 101 that runs from the Conejo Grade to the Old Town district of Camarillo was dedicated as the Adolfo Camarillo Memorial Highway to honor the city's namesake and extends through the boundaries of the original Camarillo family ranch.

After entering Middlesex County, Route 18 continues north as a freeway, entering Old Bridge Township.

After interchanging with U. S. Route 9 ( Exit 30 ), the freeway ends, and becomes an arterial highway through a mostly wooded commercial stretch of Old Bridge.

It then passes under County Route 516 and County Route 527 ( Old Bridge-Matawan Road ), but has no northbound interchange to connect with them ; motorists have to travel through a residential area to access these roads.

After the interchanges with County Routes 535 ( Cranbury Road )., and County Route 606 ( Milltown Road ), Route 18 intersects West Ferris Street, West Prospect Street, Tices Lane, and then meets County Route 527 ( the Old Bridge Turnpike ) at Edgeboro Road.

After New Brunswick, Route S-28 continued southward through East Brunswick, Old Bridge and Browntown before terminating at State Highway Route 4 ( U. S. Route 9 ) in Matawan.

Route 18's freeway was to begin in Eatontown and head westward to Old Bridge along the former alignment of State Highway Route 18 prior to the 1953 renumbering, while Route 35 was to head northward from Seaside Heights to Long Branch.

Construction was slated for the interchange with County Routes 516 and 527 in Old Bridge as there is no way to access either of them without driving through a residential area off Route 18 ( Marlboro Road, Ferris Street, Sadowski & Marsad Drive ).

Subsequently, County Route 516's intersection with Old Matawan Road is to be relocated.

A short distance later, at the second intersection with Old South Avenue, the route becomes state-maintained again and continues past businesses, intersecting County Route 655 ( Martine Avenue ) before it heads into residential neighborhoods and meets County Route 601 ( Laurel Place ).
