The route southward of Exit 6A in Wall was also originally intended to extend to the Brielle Circle and terminate at Route 34, Route 35, and Route 70 but there are no plans to do so currently.

During the 1950s, as the New Jersey State Highway Department was drawing out plans for an extensive freeway system, freeways were proposed for Route 18 and nearby Route 35.

Route 18's freeway was to begin in Eatontown and head westward to Old Bridge along the former alignment of State Highway Route 18 prior to the 1953 renumbering, while Route 35 was to head northward from Seaside Heights to Long Branch.

This section opened between 1967 and 1972, but in that time, two portions of the Route 35 Freeway had been cancelled.

As a result, the portion of the Route 35 freeway that was opened was signed as part of 18 instead.

Its first interchange is with Maryland Route 178, though it is only accessible from the southbound carriageway, and traffic only enters into the northbound.

There are no northbound off-ramps until exit 7, where the route interchanges with the ends of both Maryland Route 3 and Maryland Route 32.

At the southern end of the interchange, the right-of-way for the southern extension is visible along with the former on-ramp from Route 138 to Route 18 northbound.

It then passes under County Route 516 and County Route 527 ( Old Bridge-Matawan Road ), but has no northbound interchange to connect with them ; motorists have to travel through a residential area to access these roads.

The route interchanges with Route 34 southbound at Exit 35A and northbound at Exit 35B.

Route 21 comes to a northbound exit and southbound entrance for Grafton Avenue and Mill Street, briefly becoming a double-decker freeway again past that interchange before crossing into Belleville at the Second River crossing.

The freeway features a southbound exit for Mill Street and a northbound exit for Route 7 and County Route 506 ( Rutgers Street / Belleville Turnpike ) as it passes by houses on the left side of the freeway.

This interchange has access to the northbound Garden State Parkway from northbound Route 34, to the southbound Garden State Parkway from southbound Route 34, and to both directions of Route 34 from the southbound Garden State Parkway.

To exit Bolton, one heads north on Notch Road until reaching Route 44, just outside of Bolton Notch.

The mine, located just off State Route 31, is about southeast of Fairview, and south of Salt Lake City ( 100 miles, or 161 km, on a flight line ).

The lowest elevation is sea level along the Atlantic Ocean and the highest elevation is in the northwestern part of the county along State Route 12 just south of the Wicomico County line.

Marlboro is just off Route 9 which runs east-west across southern Vermont, from Brattleboro ten miles ( 16 km ) to the east to Wilmington and Bennington further to the west.

Route 6, the Trans Israel Highway, starts just east of Haifa down to the outskirts of Beer Sheva, about 200 km.

Brickell Avenue is the name given to the stretch of U. S. Route 1 in Miami, Florida just south of the Miami River.

Hopewell made national news when, on December 22, 1935, a bus plunged through the open draw of the Appomattox River Drawbridge on State Route 10 just outside Hopewell's city limits.

The south end of Route 128 is in Canton, where Interstate 95 heads south toward Providence, Rhode Island, just east of the Northeast Corridor's Route 128 Station.

Past the Somerville Circle, Route 28 becomes a road named West End Avenue that intersects County Route 644 ( Frelinghuysen Avenue ) just before entering Somerville.

The history of the Canning Stock Route has been well documented from the colonial perspective – accounts of European explorers, drovers, prospectors and law enforcers – but increasingly the Aboriginal history of the track is also being recognised, and Aboriginal people are keen to have their story told: We wanna tell you fellas ' bout things been happening in the past that hasn't been recorded, what old people had in their head.

In 1634, it became part of the first eight shires of Virginia, as Charles City County, one of the oldest in the United States, and is located along Virginia State Route 5, which runs parallel to the river's northern borders past sites of many of the James River Plantations between the colonial capital city of Williamsburg ( now the site of Colonial Williamsburg ) and the capital of the Commonwealth of Virginia at Richmond.

A short distance later, at the second intersection with Old South Avenue, the route becomes state-maintained again and continues past businesses, intersecting County Route 655 ( Martine Avenue ) before it heads into residential neighborhoods and meets County Route 601 ( Laurel Place ).

After the intersection with Route 439, the route continues past urban residences and business, narrowing into a two-lane undivided road at the intersection with County Route 618 ( Magie Avenue ).

At that point, Route 38 was proposed as a highway from Camden ( where it would end ), past its former terminus at State Highway Route 39 to an intersection with State Highway Route 4-N in the community of Wall Township east of Fort Dix.

Immediately past this interchange, the road intersects County Route 30 before coming to a cloverleaf interchange with Interstate 195 and Route 138.

Route 35 continues west past numerous businesses and runs through Hazlet before crossing into Keyport.

Route 27 continues north on St. Georges Avenue past the terminus of Route 35.

The concurrency, an important and busy regional artery, continues past Newark Liberty International Airport and over the Pulaski Skyway, finally leaving the state along with Route 1 and I-95 via the George Washington Bridge.

Route 7 goes along Great Russell Street, past the British Museum, and on to Russell Square.

Route 19 continues past the Garden State Parkway as a six-lane freeway surrounded by trees, coming to a northbound exit and southbound entrance with County Route 509.

A short distance past this intersection, the road becomes a four-lane undivided road that crosses New Jersey Transit ’ s Pascack Valley Line before coming to an interchange with Route 17.

The route crosses County Route 513 ( Dover-Chester Road ), skirting several residential neighborhoods and passing by the County College of Morris past that intersection, with businesses along the road becoming more frequent again.

The route crosses County Route 527 ( Livingston Avenue ) and narrows to two lanes a short distance past that intersection.
