Four years after Shepherd Moons she released The Memory of Trees ( 1995 ), another Top Five success in both the UK and Germany, as well as her first Top 10 album in the U. S. Singles released from the album were " Anywhere Is " and " On My Way Home ".

Singles from the album included " Hold on Tight ", " Twilight ", " The Way Life's Meant to Be ", " Here Is the News " and " Ticket to the Moon ".

Phasing was, by 1967, heavily identified with the musical style known from 1967 onwards as psychedelia, and as " Rainbow Chaser " was the only Nirvana single to achieve commercial success, peaking at number 34 in UK Singles Chart during May 1968, they were invariably tagged as a " psychedelic " band.

Singles from the album included " Crystal ", " 60 Miles an Hour ", and " Someone Like You ".

The term " rhythm and blues " was used by Billboard in its chart listings from June 1949 until August 1969, when its " Hot Rhythm & Blues Singles " chart was renamed as " Best Selling Soul Singles ".

The reunited Pogues played dates in the UK with support from the Dropkick Murphys in late 2005, and re-released their 1987 Christmas classic " Fairytale of New York " on 19 December, which went straight in at No. 3 in the UK Singles charts on Christmas Day 2005, showing the song's enduring popularity.

With help from Peel ( who had also recorded and broadcast a Peel Session with the Undertones on the 16th ), Teenage Kicks peaked at number 31 in the UK Singles Chart the following month.

The subsequent single-only release " Shakespeare's Sister " reached number 26 on the UK Singles Chart, although the only single taken from the album, " That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore ", was less successful, barely making the top 50.

A concerted drive, including a poll ( scrutinised by the Electoral Reform Society ) to select the track, saw " Bunsen Burner " — with music sampled from the Trammps song " Disco Inferno " and lyrics devised to help his daughter with her chemistry homework — reach number nine in the UK Singles Chart on 6 October, and earned Otway an appearance on Top Of The Pops, BBC Television's flagship popular music programme.

Early in their career, their 1993 EP Jenny Ondioline entered the UK Singles Chart, but financial issues prevented the band from printing enough records to satisfy demand.

Singles from the album were the well received title track " Classic Fantastic " followed by " Mr Sun ".

" Rather Be ", the second single from the album, was released in November 2008 but did not become as successful as " Love Is Noise " was, peaking at number 56 on the UK Singles Chart.

Their debut single "( We Don't Need This ) Fascist Groove Thang " attracted some attention and, due to its overtly left-wing political lyrics, was banned by BBC Radio 1 DJ Mike Read ( who is a staunch supporter of the Conservative Party ), and neither this nor any other of the four singles taken from the band's debut album Penthouse and Pavement managed to reach the Top 40 in the UK Singles Chart.

Singles continued to be produced in the UK and Australia, surviving the transition from compact disc to digital download.

As a result, downloads were gradually introduced into the UK Singles Chart from April 2005 to January 2007.

On 14 November 1952, taking its cue from the U. S. magazine Billboard, it created the first UK Singles Chart.

Also that year, the single " Gaudete " from Below the Salt belatedly became a Christmas hit single, reaching number 14 in the UK Singles Chart, although this a cappella piece, taken from the late renaissance song collection Piae Cantiones from Finland and sung entirely in Latin, cannot be considered representative of the band's music, nor the album from which it was taken.

The fourth album, Playin ' Favorites was a top-40 hit in the UK in 1973 and included the Irish folk classic, " Mountains of Mourne " and Buddy Holly ’ s " Everyday ", a live rendition of which returned McLean to the UK Singles Chart.

Included amongst the remastered album tracks were unreleased songs and out-takes, including 2 new singles " Surrender " which registered on the lower end of the UK Singles Chart at number 81, some 30 years after it was written in 1976.

" Alone Again Or " initially peaked at No. 123 in 1968 in an edited version, while the longer, original album version spent three weeks on the singles chart in 1970 before peaking at No. 99, according to Whitburn's " Top Pop Singles: 1955-2010.

September 2009 saw the release of Sinatra's digital-only album Cherry Smiles: The Rare Singles, featuring previously unreleased tracks and songs only available on 45.

The album was certified gold and the attendant single " Uptown " reached No. 5 on the Billboard Dance chart and No. 5 on the Hot Soul Singles charts.

However, the album contained the Van Leer-penned " Sylvia " which became a major hit in many markets outside the US and was spent eleven weeks in the UK Singles Chart where it peaked at No. 4.

In 2002 they were invited to work in the studio with The Chemical Brothers, they produce together the single called The Golden Path, included in Chemical Brothers compilation album Singles 93-03.

Basement Jaxx recorded three songs about Camberwell: " Camberwell Skies ", " Camberskank " and " I live in Camberwell " which are on the The Singles: Special Edition album ( 2005 ).

Bon Jovi continued to enjoy success, branching into country music with " Who Says You Can't Go Home ", which reached number one on the Hot Country Singles chart in 2006, and the rock / country album Lost Highway, which reached number one in 2007.

( The success of Hee Haw and Lawrence Welk in syndication, and the network decisions that led to their respective cancellations, were the inspiration for a novelty song called " The Lawrence Welk-Hee Haw Counter-Revolution Polka ," performed by Clark ; the song became a top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart in the fall of 1972.

The U. S. National Women's Singles Championships were first held in 1887 in Philadelphia.

These singles were collected on Singles Going Steady, described by critic Ned Raggett as a " punk masterpiece ".

Brandy went on to sell over six million units worldwide, and produced three top ten hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including " I Wanna Be Down " and " Baby ," both of which reached the top of the Hot R & B Singles chart and were certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.

There were released more two number one studio albums, Art of Life and Dahlia, a singles compilation X Singles, all selling more than half a million, and since the formation had thirteenth top five singles, disbanding in 1996.
