A less common belief, contradicting allochtonic Slovene origin, was that the Glagolitic was created or used in the 4th century by St. Jerome, hence the alphabet is sometimes named Hieronymian.

In the Middle Ages, Glagolitsa was also known as " St. Jerome's script " due to popular mediaeval legend ( created by Croatian scribes in 13th century ) ascribing its invention to St Jerome ( 342-429 ).

However, it should be noted that the Latin Vulgate translation was a work that St. Jerome began in 382 AD, centuries after the death of Barnabas.

The latest biography of Khmelnytsky by Smoliy and Stepankov, however, challenges the 27 December date and suggests that it is more likely he was born on 9 November ( feast day of St Zenoby ,< ref >

Carbon isotopes of lipids ( n-alkanes ) derived from leaf wax and lignin, and total organic carbon from two sections of lake sediments interbedded with the in eastern North America have shown carbon isotope excursions similar to those found in the mostly marine St. Audrie ’ s Bay section, Somerset, England ; the correlation suggests that the end-Triassic extinction event began at the same time in marine and terrestrial environments, slightly before the oldest basalts in eastern North America but simultaneous with the eruption of the oldest flows in Morocco ( Also suggested by Deenen et al., 2010 ), with both a critical greenhouse and a marine biocalcification crisis.
