The first European general to introduce rapid movement, concentrated power and integrated military effort was Swedish King Gustavus Adolphus during the 30 year war.

The Swedish military rank of fänrik ( and the corresponding cavalry rank of kornet ) was originally intended for the holder of the company flag.

Anders Celsius ( 27 November 1701 – 25 April 1744 ) was a Swedish astronomer.
