Anadyr () is a river in the far northeast Siberia which flows into Anadyr Bay of the Bering Sea and drains much of the interior of Chukotka Autonomous Okrug.

The Soviet code name, Operation Anadyr, was also the name of a river flowing into the Bering Sea, the name of the capital of Chukotsky District, and a bomber base in the far eastern region.

The Inuit inhabit the Arctic and northern Bering Sea coasts of Alaska and Arctic coasts of the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Quebec, Labrador, and Greenland.

Siberian Yupik reside along the Bering Sea coast of the Chukchi Peninsula in Siberia in the Russian Far East and in the villages of Gambell and Savoonga on St. Lawrence Island in Alaska.

White killer whales occur sporadically but rarely among normal killer whales ; they have been spotted in the northern Bering Sea and around St. Lawrence Island, and near the Russian coast.

They used the boats to hunt on inland lakes, rivers and coastal waters of the Arctic Ocean, North Atlantic, Bering Sea and North Pacific oceans.

Breeding colonies can be found in the Pacific from the Kuril Islands, around the coast of the Sea of Okhotsk throughout the Bering Sea and the Aleutian Islands to southeast Alaska, and in the Atlantic from the Gulf of St. Lawrence through Greenland and the coast of Ireland down to Portugal, as well as in the high Arctic islands.

In sharp contrast, the Red-legged Kittiwake has a very limited range in the Bering Sea, breeding only on the Pribilof, Bogoslof and Buldir islands in the United States, and the Commander Islands in Russia.

From west to east the Northwest Passage runs through the Bering Strait ( separating Russia and Alaska ), Chukchi Sea, Beaufort Sea, and then through several waterways that go through the Canadian Arctic Archipelago.

Extending approximately 15, 500 kilometres ( 9, 600 mi ) from the Bering Sea in the Arctic to the northern extent of the circumpolar Southern Ocean at 60 ° S ( older definitions extend it to Antarctica's Ross Sea ), the Pacific reaches its greatest east-west width at about 5 ° N latitude, where it stretches approximately 19, 800 kilometres ( 12, 300 mi ) from Indonesia to the coast of Colombia – halfway across the world, and more than five times the diameter of the Moon.

The Aleutian Current branches as it approaches North America and forms the base of a counter-clockwise circulation in the Bering Sea.

The major geographical changes during this time period included the emergence of the Strait of Bosphorus and Skagerrak during glacial epochs, which respectively turned the Black Sea and Baltic Sea into fresh water, followed by their flooding ( and return to salt water ) by rising sea level ; the periodic filling of the English Channel, forming a land bridge between Britain and the European mainland ; the periodic closing of the Bering Strait, forming the land bridge between Asia and North America ; and the periodic flash flooding of Scablands of the American Northwest by glacial water.

It also has maritime borders with Japan by the Sea of Okhotsk, and the U. S. state of Alaska by the Bering Strait.

The Barents Sea, White Sea, Kara Sea, Laptev Sea, East Siberian Sea, Chukchi Sea, Bering Sea, Sea of Okhotsk, and the Sea of Japan are linked to Russia via the Arctic and Pacific.

It is situated in the northwest extremity of the North American continent, with Canada to the east, the Arctic Ocean to the north, and the Pacific Ocean to the west and south, with Russia further west across the Bering Strait.

Bourne contends that as most Gigantopithecus fossils are found in China, and as many species of animals migrated across the Bering land bridge, it is not unreasonable to assume that Gigantopithecus might have as well.

F. cirrhata is the namesake of one of its main breeding sites, Kamen Toporkov (" Tufted Puffin Rock ") or Ostrov Toporkov (" Tufted Puffin Island "), an islet offshore Bering Island.

St. Paul is particularly popular, having a high cliff wall, known as Ridge Wall, above the Bering Sea.

The Americas are thought to have been first inhabited by people crossing the Bering Land Bridge from Asia, which is now the Bering Strait.

Reaching a cape ( which Chirikov named Cape Chukotsk ), the land turned westwards, and Bering asked his two lieutenants on 13 August 1728 whether or not they could reasonably claim it was turning westwards for good: that is to say, whether they had proven that Asia and America were separate land masses.

In the book, Gilpin envisioned that all the great cities of the world along that latitude would eventually be linked by railroad lines, and proposed a rail line over the Bering Strait connecting North America and Asia.
