* 1963 – The Evergreen Point Bridge, the longest floating bridge in the world, opens between Seattle and Medina, Washington, US.

Transportation includes the Astoria Regional Airport with U. S. Route 30 and U. S. Route 101 as the main highways, and the Astoria – Megler Bridge connecting to neighboring Washington across the river.

Some double-decker bridges only use one level for street traffic ; the Washington Avenue Bridge in Minneapolis reserves its lower level for automobile traffic and its upper level for pedestrian and bicycle traffic ( predominantly students at the University of Minnesota ).

The George Washington Bridge between New Jersey and New York has two roadway levels.

* The Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge, sometimes referred to as the South Capitol Street Bridge, just south of the US Capitol in Washington DC, was built in 1950 and named in his honor.

* 1979 – An intense windstorm strikes western Washington and sinks a 1 / 2-mile-long section of the Hood Canal Bridge.

* 1982 – Shortly after takeoff, Air Florida Flight 90, a Boeing 737 jet crashes into Washington, D. C .' s 14th Street Bridge and falls into the Potomac River, killing 78 including four motorists.

* 1937 – The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, California, is officially opened by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in Washington, D. C., who pushes a button signaling the start of vehicle traffic over the span.

* 1940 – In Tacoma, Washington, the original Tacoma Narrows Bridge collapses in a windstorm, a mere four months after the bridge's completion.

* 1931 – The George Washington Bridge opens to public traffic.

The completion of the Evergreen Point Floating Bridge across Lake Washington in 1963 allowed Redmond to flourish as a suburb of Seattle.

* 2: 30 a. m .: CBS reports that a car packed with explosives has been stopped on the George Washington Bridge.

* October 24 – The George Washington Bridge is dedicated ; it opens to traffic the following day.

The next day, President Franklin D. Roosevelt pushes a button in Washington, D. C., signaling the start of vehicle traffic over the Golden Gate Bridge.

The Port Authority also operates Hudson River crossings, including the Holland Tunnel, Lincoln Tunnel, and George Washington Bridge connecting New Jersey with Manhattan, and three crossings that connect New Jersey with Staten Island.

Other facilities managed by the Port Authority include the George Washington Bridge, the Lincoln Tunnel, and the Holland Tunnel, which all connect Manhattan and Northern New Jersey ; the Goethals Bridge, the Bayonne Bridge, and the Outerbridge Crossing which connect Staten Island and New Jersey.

Major bus depots include the Port Authority Bus Terminal at 42nd Street, the George Washington Bridge Bus Station, and the Journal Square Transportation Center in Jersey City.

Students become well-acquainted with the double-decker Washington Avenue Bridge that connects the two sections.

After entering Middlesex County, Route 18 continues north as a freeway, entering Old Bridge Township.

The freeway was readopted by the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission for the new Route 38 freeway from the Ben Franklin Bridge eastward ( paralleling Route 70 and U. S. Route 30 ) to the area of Jackson Township, where it would follow current Interstate 195's alignment.

The route runs from an intersection with Route 35 and Route 70 ( the former Brielle Circle ) in Wall Township, Monmouth County north to an intersection with U. S. Route 9 in Old Bridge Township, Middlesex County.

In 1953, Route 34 was extended north along Route 4A to end at U. S. Route 9 in Old Bridge Township.

Route 34 crosses into Old Bridge Township, Middlesex County, where it becomes a two-lane road with a speed limit, continuing through commercial areas.

The route heads through Point Pleasant Beach and crosses the Manasquan River on the Brielle Bridge, meeting Route 34 and Route 70 at the former Brielle Circle in Wall Township.

The Victory Bridge ( New Jersey ) | Victory Bridge carries Route 35 over the Raritan River. Route 35 crosses the Whale Creek into Old Bridge Township, Middlesex County, where it continues northwest through businesses and residences in Laurence Harbor and Cliffwood Beach, both sections of Old Bridge Township.

The highway follows a more inland route through Howell Township, Marlboro Township, Freehold Township, Manalapan Township, Old Bridge, Sayreville and into Perth Amboy.

Forry's Mill Covered Bridge is located in West Hempfield Township on Bridge Valley Road 0. 4 km ( 0. 25 mi ) north of Pennsylvania route 23 5. 5 km ( 3. 4 mi ) east of Marietta, less than a mile away from the former site of the Siegrist's Mill Covered Bridge.

The Keller's Mill Covered Bridge is a covered bridge that spans Cocalico Creek in Ephrata Township, Lancaster County in the US state of Pennsylvania.

The Neff's Mill Covered Bridge or Bowman's Mill Covered Bridge is a covered bridge that spans the Pequea Creek on the border between West Lampeter Township and Strasburg Township in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, United States.

The first superhighways -- New York's Henry Hudson and Chicago's Lake Shore, San Francisco's Bay Bridge and its approaches, a good slice of the Pennsylvania Turnpike -- were built as part of the federal works program which was going to cure the depression.

* 1497 – Battle of Deptford Bridge – forces under King Henry VII defeat troops led by Michael An Gof.

Following a 1 – 0 victory against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in February 2011, described by Alan Smith as " a quite brilliant display in terms of discipline and spirit " and a " defensive masterplan " by David Pleat, Henry Winter wrote, " it can only be a matter of time before he is confirmed as long-term manager ".

He possibly served as a squire to Henry Bolingbroke ( later Henry IV of England ), son of John of Gaunt, at the short, sharp Battle of Radcot Bridge in December 1387.

* June 17 – Cornish rebels under Michael An Gof are soundly defeated by Henry VII at the Battle of Deptford Bridge near London.

The battle is also memorialized with a sculpture by Henry Hering called Defense that is located on the south eastern tender's house of the Michigan Avenue Bridge ( which partially covers the site of Fort Dearborn ).

When he returned to Newcastle, he designed a rotary engine powered by water, and this was built in the High Bridge works of his friend Henry Watson.

On 12 October, at the Battle of Ludford Bridge, York once again faced Henry just as he had at Dartford seven years earlier.

The Henry Hudson Parkway and Amtrak's Empire Connection run through it, and at its northern end the Henry Hudson Bridge links Manhattan to the Bronx.

At least three freshwater springs arise in the park, one of which was used for drinking water by the workers who constructed the Henry Hudson Bridge.
