The decisions of the Supreme Court in cases such as Calvert Cliffs Coordinating Committee v. U. S. Atomic Energy Commission ( broadly reading the procedural requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act ), Tennessee Valley Authority v. Hill ( broadly reading the Endangered Species Act ), and, much more recently, Massachusetts v. EPA ( requiring EPA to reconsider regulation of greenhouse gases under the Clean Air Act ) have had policy impacts far beyond the facts of the particular case.

David Eli Lilienthal ( July 8, 1899 – January 15, 1981 ) was an American public official best known for leading the Tennessee Valley Authority and the Atomic Energy Commission.

The plant served as a training ground of sorts for welders and machinists who would later work on nearby Tennessee Valley Authority and Atomic Energy Commission projects.

He has been a director of Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd., National Film Board of Canada, Export Development Corporation, Federal Business Development Bank, DeHavilland Aircraft Co., International Development Research Center, The Molson's Co. Ltd., Canada Packers Co. Ltd., DuPont Canada Ltd., Rockwell International Canada, National Bank of Canada, Bell Canada, London Medical Association, Bow Valley Energy Corp., Ellis-Don Ltd., Life Imaging Systems Inc., Great West Lifeco Inc., London Life Insurance Co., Canada Life Insurance Co., and Honorary Director of " Let's Talk Science ".

Upon his return to the Senate, O ' Mahoney became a strong opponent of the Dixon-Yates contract, which provided for a private company to build a plant to provide power to the Tennessee Valley Authority ( TVA ) to replace the power that the TVA sold to the Atomic Energy Commission.

Statistics Canada, defines the Annapolis Valley as an economic region, composed of Annapolis County, Kings County, and Hants County.

In addition to managing JPL, Caltech also operates the Palomar Observatory in San Diego County, the Owens Valley Radio Observatory in Bishop, California, the Submillimeter Observatory and W. M. Keck Observatory at the Mauna Kea Observatory, the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory at Livingston, Louisiana and Richland, Washington, and Kerckhoff Marine Laboratory in Corona del Mar, California.

Important manufacturing centres in the region include Pictou County, Truro, the Annapolis Valley and the South Shore, and the Strait of Canso area in Nova Scotia, as well as Summerside in Prince Edward Island, and the Miramichi area, the North Shore and the upper Saint John River valley of New Brunswick.

Freeway opponents fear that upgrading Highway 84 will encourage more people to live in southern Alameda County ( where housing is more affordable ) and commute to jobs in the mid-Peninsula area ( where businesses wish to be located in order to be close to Silicon Valley ), thus increasing traffic in their neighborhoods to the south and west of U. S. 101.

Most of the Peninsula is occupied by San Mateo County, between San Francisco and Santa Clara counties, and including the cities and towns of Atherton, Belmont, Brisbane, Burlingame, Colma, Daly City, East Palo Alto, El Granada, Foster City, Hillsborough, La Honda, Menlo Park, Millbrae, Montara, Pacifica, Pescadero, Portola Valley, Redwood City, San Bruno, San Carlos, San Gregorio, San Mateo, South San Francisco, and Woodside.

The City-County owns several disjunct properties along the whole of the Peninsula ( mostly water pumping stations connected to the Hetch Hetchy Valley on which San Francisco has a permanent leasehold ); thus, most of the larger communities in San Mateo County are de facto suburbs of San Francisco, with the neighboring communities of Pacifica, Daly City, Broadmoor, Colma, South San Francisco, San Bruno, and Brisbane being immediate suburbs.

However, with the rapid growth of technology jobs in the San Francisco Metropolitan area, the traditional boundaries of Silicon Valley have expanded North to include the rest of San Mateo County, San Francisco County as well as parts of Marin County.

The campus also includes much land in unincorporated San Mateo County ( including the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory and the Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve ), as well as in the city limits of Menlo Park ( Stanford Hills neighborhood ), Woodside, and Portola Valley.

Other regions often associated with Chardonnay include Napa Valley, Monterey County and Santa Barbara County.

Cities and counties interested in industrial development would do well in the months ahead to keep their eyes peeled toward the 13 northwest Georgia counties that are members of the Coosa Valley Area Planning and Development Commission.

The most brilliant displays are along the Skyline Drive above Virginia's Shenandoah Valley and throughout the Great Smokies between North Carolina and Tennessee.

There are several UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Algeria including Al Qal ' a of Beni Hammad, the first capital of the Hammadid empire ; Tipasa, a Phoenician and later Roman town ; and Djémila and Timgad, both Roman ruins ; M ' Zab Valley, a limestone valley containing a large urbanized oasis ; also the Casbah of Algiers is an important citadel.

The most important valleys are the Kocaeli Valley, the Balıkesir Ovası ( Balıkesir Plain ), the Bursa Ovası ( Bursa Plain ), and the Plains of Troy ( historically known as the Troad.

Between the Cotton Belt and the Tennessee Valley is the mineral region, the Old Land area — a region of resistant rocks — whose soils, also derived from weathering in silu, are of varied fertility, the best coming from the granites, sandstones and limestones, the poorest from the gneisses, schists and slates.

North of the mineral region is the Cereal Belt, embracing the Tennessee Valley and the counties beyond, whose richest soils are the red clays and dark loams of the river valley ; north of which are less fertile soils, produced by siliceous and sandstone formations.

Other well-known areas are: Chironico ( Switzerland ), Stanage ( UK ), Hueco Tanks ( Texas ), Val Masino and Val di Mello ( Italy ), Castle Hill ( New Zealand ), Bishop ( California ), Joe's Valley ( Utah ), Yosemite ( California ), Rocktown ( Georgia ), Rocklands ( South Africa ), Cocalzinho de Goiás ( Brazil ), Kjugekull ( Sweden ), Hampi ( India ) Horse Pens 40 ( Alabama ) and Horseshoe Canyon Ranch ( Arkansas ) amongst others.

The Ubaye Valley has an Alpine climate and winters are harsh as a result of the altitude, but there are only light winds as a result of the relief.

It and the Ubaye Valley are served by the Barcelonnette-Saint-Pons Airport.

Named " Baraka ", its earliest colonizers are later driven out by rivals from Al-Andalus and flee to the Loire Valley, where they found the city of Nsara.

The Indus Valley Civilization and ancient China are two other areas with major indigenous urban traditions.

The main highland cities in the country's Central Valley are connected by paved all-weather roads with the Atlantic and Pacific coasts and by the Pan American Highway with Nicaragua and Panama, the neighboring countries to the North and the South.

There are also churches for Roman Catholic, Methodist and other denominations, including Cheddar Valley Community Church, who not only meet at The Kings of Wessex School on Sunday, but also have their own site on Tweentown for meeting during the week.

As mentioned above, the Indus Valley has always been occupied by the wandering nomadic tribes, who are fond of isolated areas, as such areas allow them to lead life free of foreign intrusion, enabling them to establish their own individual and unique cultures.

The two middle schools are Carson Middle School and Eagle Valley Middle School.

The quarry and tombs associated with it are north, not west of the main city and west only of the merchant area in the Tyropoeon Valley, which was enclosed by the Second Wall.

There are no cross-Peninsula freeway connections between State Routes 92 and 85 ( which is so far south that it technically lies in Silicon Valley and not on the Peninsula ).

They are headquartered in Valley Ranch in Irving, Texas, a suburb of Dallas.

Three are Lighter aboard ships ( LASH ) which carry barges called Lighters that contain Army ammunition to be ferried ashore: MV American Cormorant, SS Green Harbour, ( LASH ), SS Green Valley, ( LASH ), MV Jeb Stuart, ( LASH ).

Despite covering only about 5. 5 % of the total area of Egypt, the Nile Valley and Nile Delta are the most important regions, being the country's only cultivable regions and supporting about 99 % of the population.

Valley erosion is occurring due to the flow of the stream, and the boulders and stones ( and much of the soil ) that are lying on the edges are glacial till that was left behind as ice age glaciers flowed over the terrain.
