Another progressive rock act, Genesis, released the concept album The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway in 1974, a double disc that told the story of the street punk Rael.

The Jacksons ( previously The Jackson 5 ) did many disco songs from 1975 to 1980, including " Shake Your Body ( Down to the Ground )" ( 1978 ), " Blame it on the Boogie " ( 1978 ), and " Can You Feel It " ( 1980 )— all sung by Michael Jackson, whose 1979 solo album, Off the Wall, included several disco hits, including the album's title song, " Rock with You ", " Workin ' Day and Night ", and his second chart-topping solo hit in the disco genre, " Don't Stop ' til You Get Enough ".

Of the previously unreleased songs, " Down to the Wire " features the New Orleans pianist Dr. John with Buffalo Springfield on an item from their shelved Stampede album ; " Love Is a Rose " was a minor hit for Linda Ronstadt in 1975 ; " Winterlong " received a cover by Pixies on the Neil Young tribute album from 1989, The Bridge ; and " Campaigner " is a Young song critical of Richard Nixon.

His final solo album of the decade was 1987's Never Let Me Down, where he ditched the light sound of his previous two albums, instead offering harder rock with an industrial / techno dance edge.

Peaking at number six in the UK, the album yielded the hits " Day-In, Day-Out " ( his 60th single ), " Time Will Crawl ", and " Never Let Me Down ".

2009 The Egyptian Lover makes a brand new album that included songs, Electro Pharaoh, U. F. O., Freaky D. J., BellyDance, Scandinavian Summer, Do U Wanna Get Down ?.

Although the biggest hit on the album ( and ELO's biggest hit overall ) was the rock song " Don't Bring Me Down ", the album was noted for its heavy disco influence.

Heavily influences the song " Get Down Moses ", by Joe Strummer & the Mescaleros on their album Streetcore.

Many rock drummers have cited Moon as an influence, including Neil Peart and Dave Grohl The Jam paid tribute to Moon on the second single from their third album, " Down in the Tube Station at Midnight ", in which the B-side of the single is a cover song from The Who: " So Sad About Us ", and the back cover of the record is a photo of Moon's face ; the Jam's record was released about a month after Moon's death.

They are the only Australian artist to have a simultaneous No. 1 album and No. 1 single in the United States ( Business as Usual and " Down Under " respectively ).

A subsequent single ( a re-worked version of " Down Under ") and their first album ( Business as Usual ) went to No. 1.

To promote the album, the band made their only video for MTV, " Down With Disease ", airing in June of that year.

Intended to be the band's first " break-through " album, Caress of Steel sold below expectations and the promotional tour consisted of smaller venues, which led to the moniker the " Down the Tubes Tour ".

After Peter Gabriel left the group following the tour for the concept album The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway ( 1974 ), they continued in the Symphonic Prog vein until 1976's Wind & Wuthering with Phil Collins as the lead singer.

The Bangles ' full-length debut album on Columbia, All Over the Place ( 1984 ), captured their power-pop roots, featuring the singles " Hero Takes a Fall " and the Kimberley Rew-penned Beatlesque " Going Down to Liverpool " ( originally recorded by Rew's band Katrina and the Waves ).

The album is also notable for containing a number of covers of songs by other artists, including The Ramones (" The Return of Jackie and Judy " and " Danny Says "), Daniel Johnston (" King Kong "), Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht (" What Keeps Mankind Alive "), and Leadbelly (" Ain't Goin ' Down to the Well " and " Goodnight Irene "), as well as renditions of works by poets and authors admired by Waits, such as Charles Bukowski and Jack Kerouac and a previously released duet with Mark Linkous of Sparklehorse entitled " Dog Door ".

The band got their name from the folk tale featured in Billy Bragg's " The World Turned Upside Down ", on his 1987 album, Back to Basics.

In a May 2011 interview Enya's manager said that she is working on a new album and will likely tour to support it, with part of the recording taking place in Abbey Road studios in London.

Harris ' songs " Boulder to Birmingham ", from her 1975 album Pieces of the Sky, and " The Road ", from her 2011 album Hard Bargain, are tributes to Parsons.

Capitol / EMI's album Forever Cool ( 2007 ) features two duets with Spacey and the voice of the late Dean Martin: " Ain't That a Kick in the Head " and " King of the Road.

The songs " Lonely Road of Faith " and " You Never Met a Motherfucker Quite Like Me " were released as singles, but were only minor hits, and the album struggled to reach platinum a year later.

The title of I Mother Earth's song " Shortcut to Moncton " on the album Scenery and Fish ( track 7 ) was inspired by a highway sign on the Trans-Canada highway that points to the old Fredericton Road that says, " Shortcut to Moncton ".

* Steve Earle's " Snake Oil ": Singer-songwriter Steve Earle recorded a song critical of the Ronald Reagan administration entitled " Snake Oil " for the album Copperhead Road, released in 1988.

After Ono was injured in a car accident, Lennon arranged for a king-sized bed to be brought to the recording studio as he worked on The Beatles ' last recorded album, Abbey Road.

The British rock band Supergrass named their fifth studio album Road to Rouen, punning on an Anglicised pronunciation of the city's name.
