American TV was the setting for the first dramatic portrayal of Miss Marple with Gracie Fields, the legendary British actress, playing her in a 1956 episode of Goodyear TV Playhouse based on A Murder Is Announced, the 1950 Christie novel.

Although none of the characters from The Beverly Hillbillies ever appeared on Green Acres, an episode of Green Acres was named after The Beverly Hillbillies.

The song was sung by Jerry Scoggins ( backed by Flatt and Scruggs ) over the opening and end credits of each episode.

Mumy also played the character of young Pip, a boy who enjoyed playing with his father but was always ignored, in the episode " In Praise of Pip " ( September 1963 ), and the character of Billy Bayles, a boy who talks to his dead grandmother through a toy telephone, in the episode " Long Distance Call " ( March 1961 ).

A customized 1969 American Motors AMX was built by George Barris for the second regular season episode.

The episode was listed as the ninth best episode in the history of The Twilight Zone by Time.

Internet celebrity James Rolfe also listed this as his favourite Twilight Zone episode, saying, " it leaves you with a bitter-sweet feeling that you can relate to.

He has been listed in the 2011 Guinness Book of World Records as the highest paid actor ever in a TV Drama, earning £ 250, 000 per episode in House, and for being the most watched leading man on television.
