Borland successfully launched a series of blockbusters that included Turbo Pascal, SideKick, SuperKey, and Lightning, all developed in Denmark.

Its first product was Turbo Pascal in 1983, developed by Anders Hejlsberg ( who later developed. NET and C # for Microsoft ) and before Borland acquired the product sold in Scandinavia under the name of Compas Pascal.

While most modern IDEs are graphical, IDEs in use before the advent of windowing systems ( such as Microsoft Windows or X Window System ( X11 )) were text-based, using function keys or hotkeys to perform various tasks ( Turbo Pascal is a common example ).

The Slogger and Elektuur Turbo Boards were born out of a hack initially devised at Acorn.
