Two additional groups claim the name Bill Haley's Comets and have extensively toured in the United States since forming in the 1980s: one originally Haley's 1965 – 68 drummer John " Bam-Bam " Lane, the other run by Al Rappa who played bass for Haley off-and-on between late 1959 and early 1969 ( the 1956 album " Strictly Instrumental " on Decca was Al Rappa's first recording session with Bill Haley & His Comets.

In 1956 Holly's band ( then known informally as Buddy and the Two Tones ( meaning Buddy Holly with Sonny Curtis and Don Guess ), posthumous releases refer to The Three Tunes ) recorded an album's worth of rockabilly numbers in Nashville, Tennessee for Decca ; the records were no more than mildly successful, and the band didn't hit pay dirt until 1957, when producer and recording engineer Norman Petty hosted Holly's sessions in Clovis, New Mexico.

Two days after the first television special in the series had aired, Anthology 1 was released to stores, and included music recorded by The Quarrymen, the famous Decca Records audition tapes, and various out-takes and demos from the band's first four albums.

The band were introduced to Decca staff producer Tony Clarke who produced a recording session which saw Justin Hayward's " Fly Me High " & Mike Pinder's older-styled " Really Haven't Got the Time " ( Decca F12607 ) as the ' Mark Two ' Moodies first single released in May 1967.

In recent years, they have released two classical crossover albums that were nominated for Grammys including, the Universal Decca recordings ,'“ Two Worlds ” and " Amparo ".

He teamed with female vocalist Helen Forrest for many hit duets during World War Two, including " Together ," " I'll Buy That Dream ," and " Long Ago and far Away "; he sang with Judy Garland on two Decca recordings of songs from his film " The Shocking Miss Pilgrim " with Betty Grable ; and he paired repeatedly with the very famous Andrews Sisters ( Patty, Maxene, and LaVerne ) on a dozen or so Decca collaborations, including the Billboard hit " Teresa ," " Great Day ," " My Sin ," and a masterful 1952 rendering of the dramatic ballad " Here in My Heart ," backed by the sisters and Nelson Riddle's lush strings.

Two years later, when a deal to buy Columbia Records fell through, the pair instead started Decca Records.

The company diversified during World War Two to make radar and the Decca Navigator System.

Coloring books, calendars, puzzles, ... followed soon. Two records were released by Decca in 1956.
