Charles Farrar Browne ( April 26, 1834 – March 6, 1867 ) was a United States humor writer, better known under his nom de plume, Artemus Ward.

Classic examples of his realistic prose are " The Bet " ( 1889 ), " Ward No. 6 " ( 1892 ), and " The Lady with the Dog " ( 1899 ).

Thomas Kyd was the son of Francis and Anna Kyd and was baptised in the church of St Mary Woolnoth in the Ward of Langborn, Lombard Street, London on 6 November 1558.
