The resulting fight between the townsfolk and Lamarr's army of thugs breaks the fourth wall, quite literally ; the fight spills out from the Warner Bros. film lot into a neighboring musical set being directed by Buddy Bizarre ( Dom DeLuise ), then into the studio commissary, where a pie fight ensues.

Charles Martin " Chuck " Jones ( September 21, 1912 – February 22, 2002 ) was an American animator, cartoon artist, screenwriter, producer, and director of animated films, most memorably of Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies shorts for the Warner Bros. Cartoons studio.

After his extraordinary career at Warner Bros. ended in 1962, Jones started Sib Tower 12 Productions and began producing memorable cartoons for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, including a new series of Tom and Jerry shorts and the television adaptation of Dr. Seuss ' How the Grinch Stole Christmas!

Film historian Leonard Maltin has praised Jones ' work at Warner Bros., MGM and Chuck Jones Productions.

Chuck Jones joined Leon Schlesinger Productions, the independent studio that produced Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies for Warner Bros., in 1933 as an assistant animator.

Jones remained at Warner Bros. throughout the 1950s, except for a brief period in 1953 when Warner closed the animation studio.

Jones moonlighted to work on the film, since he had an exclusive contract with Warner Bros. UPA completed the film and made it available for distribution in 1962 ; it was picked up by Warner Bros.

Jones ' former animation unit was laid off after completing the final cartoon in their pipeline, The Iceman Ducketh, and the rest of the Warner Bros. Cartoons studio was closed in early 1963.

With business partner Les Goldman, Jones started an independent animation studio Sib Tower 12 Productions, bringing on most of his unit from Warner Bros., including Maurice Noble and Michael Maltese.

Jones resumed working with Warner Bros. in 1976 with the animated TV adaptation of The Carnival of the Animals with Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck.

S and Canadian distribution rights to RKO Radio Pictures library, and the pre-1950 Warner Bros. library and the Fleischer and Famous Studios Popeye cartoons that both were once the property of Associated Artists Productions, which merged with UA Television in 1958 ).

On January 24, 2006, UPN parent CBS Corporation and Time Warner, owner of The WB, announced that they were to create a new broadcast network, The CW Television Network -- for all intents and purposes, a merger of UPN and The WB.

In February 1956, Jack Warner sold the rights to all of the studio's pre-1950 films to Associated Artists Productions ( which merged with United Artists Television in 1958 ).

On March 21, 1955, the studio was finally able engage in television through the successful Warner Bros. Television unit run by William T. Orr, Jack Warner's son-in-law.

Initially the label released recordings made by their television stars whether they could sing or not and records based on the soundtracks of favourite Warner Bros. Television shows.

In 2006, Warner and CBS Paramount Television decided to close The WB and CBS's UPN and jointly launch The CW Television Network.

UA donated pre-1949 Warner Bros. nitrates to the Library of Congress and post-1951 negatives to the UCLA Film and Television Archive.
