Musophilus is a long poem by Samuel Daniel, first published in 1599.

He then had a guardian named Downes who moved him to another private school at St Albans where he was much influenced by the Presbyterian minister Samuel Clarke ( not to be confused with Samuel Clarke, ( 1599 – 1683 ), the English clergyman and Puritan biographer ).

He was succeeded at Groningen in 1643 by his pupil Samuel Maresius ( 1599 – 1673 ).

His son Samuel ( 1539 – 1599 ) was professor of jurisprudence at Basel.

In late 1599 he published Epigrammes in the Oldest Cut, and Newest Fashion, containing a sonnet on Shakespeare, and epigrams on Samuel Daniel, Michael Drayton, Ben Jonson, Edmund Spenser, William Warner and Christopher Middleton, all of which are valuable to the literary historian.

Like Gesner, Ulisse Aldrovandi, an encyclopedic naturalist began a 14-volume natural history with three volumes on birds, entitled ornithologiae hoc est de avibus historiae libri XII which was published from 1599 to 1603.

Another early example is Mateo Alemán's Guzmán de Alfarache ( 1599 ), characterized by religiosity.

His chief works are the " Guerra di Cipro " ' War of Cyprus ' ( 1570 – 72 ) and the " Storia Veneziana " a continuation of Bembo's history, embracing the years 1513 to 1551, which was at first written in Latin and subsequently in Italian, published until posthumously in 1599.

Several tombs of the Waldegrave family are found within the structure, including a monument 14 feet high with a cornice supported by six pillars of the Corinthian order, beneath which lie full length figures of Sir Edward Waldegrave ( knighted in 1553, at the coronation of Queen Mary, died in the Tower of London on 1st September 1561 ) and his wife Lady Frances Waldegrave née Neville ( died 1599 ).
