Since Umul Fazal did not have any issues ( children ) Imam Muhammad Jawad ( as ) married Soumaneh, who gave him a son and successor, Ali al-Hadi.

The latter left his son Ali al-Hadi ( the tenth Shi ’ ah Imam ) with his mother Soumaneh in Medina and set out for Baghdad.

The caliph, having given up on killing Ali al-Hadi, decided he would try to humiliate him instead.

Ali al-Hadi was given a vast amount of descriptive names throughout his life, each with a specific meaning.

Ali al-Hadi was given other epithets such as at-Taqiy ( pious ), al-Murtadha ( being pleased with Allah ), al-Faqeeh ( jurisprudent ), al-Aalim ( knowledgeable ), al-Ameen ( trustee of religion and life ), at-Tayyib ( generous ), al-Askari ( military ), al-Muwadhdhih ( explainer of the verdicts of the Qu ' ran and the sunnah ), ar-Rasheed ( wise ), ash-Shaheed ( the martyr ), al-Wafiy ( loyal ), and al-Khalis ( pure from defect ).

It was reported that when people would ask Ali al-Hadi why he worked on a farm, he would then state, " Who was better than me and than my father, worked with spade in his farm.

Ali al-Hadi decided and set into tradition that only when a Muslim first sees the sun do they have to begin fasting.

Hasan al-Askari, whose ancestor was the Prophet of Islam Muhammad, was born in Medina. His father was Imam Ali al-Hadi ( a. s .), the tenth Imam of the Shia.

Imam Hasan al-Askari also had two other siblings, Muhammad Abu Ja ’ far, al-Husayn bin Ali al-Hadi and a sister named Aa ' liyah or Aliyyah.

Hasan al-Askari is buried in the mausoleum containing the remains of his father, Ali al-Hadi – The Al-Askari Mosque in Samarra, Iraq.

Another possibility, raised in an essay by the Swedish fantasy writer and editor Rickard Berghorn, is that the name Alhazred was influenced by references to two historical authors whose names were Latinized as Alhazen: Alhazen ben Josef, who translated Ptolemy into Arabic ; and Abu ' Ali al-Hasan ibn al-Haytham, who wrote about optics, mathematics and physics.

Hasan Ali Shah thus become known as Aga Khan Mahallati, and the title of Aga Khan was inherited by his successors.

Hasan Ali Shah managed to restore order in Kerman, as well as in Bam and Narmishair, which were also held by rebellious groups.

Despite the service he rendered to the Qajar government, Hasan Ali Shah was dismissed from the governorship of Kerman in 1837, less than two years after his arrival there, and was replaced by Firuz Mirza Nusrat al-Dawla, a younger brother of Muhammad Shah Qajar.

Other minor battles were won by Hasan Ali Shah before he arrived in Shahr-i Babak, which he intended to use as his base for capturing Kerman.

Hasan Ali Shah decided to escape to Afghanistan, accompanied by his brothers and many soldiers and servants.

While in India, Hasan Ali Shah continued his close relationship with the British, and was even visited by the Prince of Wales when the future King Edward VII was on a state visit to India.

Although most of the members of the community signed a document issued by Hasan Ali Shah summarizing the practices of the Ismailis, a group of dissenting Khojas surprisingly asserted that the community had always been Sunni.

Hasan Ali Shah was succeeded as Imam by his eldest son Aqa Ali Shah, who became Aga Khan II.

" Ever since the time of my ancestor Ali, the first Imam, that is to say over a period of thirteen hundred years, it has always been the tradition of our family that each Imam chooses his successor at his absolute and unfettered discretion from amongst any of his descendants, whether they be sons or remote male issue and in these circumstances and in view of the fundamentally altered conditions in the world in very recent years due to the great changes which have taken place including the discoveries of atomic science, I am convinced that it is in the best interest of the Shia Muslim Ismailia Community that I should be succeeded by a young man who has been brought up and developed during recent years and in the midst of the new age and who brings a new outlook on life to his office as Imam.

As a result, their last king Ishaq ibn Ali was killed in Marrakesh in April 1147 by the Almohads who replaced them as a ruling dynasty both in Morocco and Al-Andalus.

In 1138, Ali ibn Yusuf was defeated by Alfonso VII of León, and in the Battle of Ourique ( 1139 ), by Afonso I of Portugal, who thereby won his crown.

After Ali ibn Yusuf's death in 1143, his son Tashfin ibn Ali lost ground rapidly before the Almohads, and in 1146 he was killed by a fall from a precipice while attempting to escape after a defeat near Oran.

He was called ' Al-Siddiq ' ( the truthful ') by Muhammad after he believed him in the event of Isra and Mi ' raj when other people didn't, and Ali confirmed that title several times.

The decimal point notation was introduced by Sind ibn Ali, he also wrote the earliest treatise on Arabic numerals.

He was a younger son of Fath Ali Shah, but on account of his mother's royal birth was destined by his father to succeed him.

The Amir Sher Ali marched up against them from Kandahar ; but in the battle that ensued at Sheikhabad on May 10, he was deserted by a large body of his troops, and after his signal defeat Abdur Rahman released his father, Afzul Khan, from prison in Ghazni, and installed him upon the throne as Amir of Afghanistan.
