Frederick I of Baden ( 1249 – October 29, 1268 ) was Margrave of Baden and Verona, as well as claimant Duke of Austria from October 4, 1250 until his death.

In 1249 it was sacked by Frederick II, but was soon rebuilt with the modern name.

After King Enzio of Sardinia, an illegitimate son of Emperor Frederick II was captured in 1249, Ugolino was appointed governor of Sardinia in 1252 and remained in this position until 1259, when the island was conquered by Genoa.
