Holetown is located in the parish of Saint James on the sheltered west coast of the island.

Holetown ( formerly St. James Town ), is a small town located in the Caribbean island nation of Barbados.

Under the authority of King James, the British claimed Barbados upon landing in St. James ' present-day city of Holetown ( formerly Jamestown, named after the King himself ), this settlement turned Barbados into what would later be known as " Little England ".

Holetown celebrates the founding of the first five plantations in Barbados, the first major fortification, the first place of Justice, and the first Governor's House.

The name Holetown comes from the stream, The Hole, which provided a safe landing place for the settlers.

The first settlement began some time later on 17 February 1627, near what is now Holetown ( formerly Jamestown ).
