Today the Lodi area is home to several large manufacturing, general services, and agricultural companies, including Archer Daniels Midland, Blue Shield of California, Dart Container ( www. dartcontainer. com /), General Mills, Holz Rubber Company, Kubota Tractors, Lodi Iron Works, Miller Packing Company, Pacific Coast Producers, Tiger Lines, Valley Industries, and Woodbridge-Robert Mondavi.

They moved to several small suburbs around Los Angeles, California, before settling in Midland, Texas, in 1950.

The next year, this route was considered but rejected for the Lincoln Highway, after which the Midland Trail Association laid out and marked its own transcontinental highway, eventually connecting Newport News, Virginia with Los Angeles, California.

From Spanish Fork to Ely, Nevada, it followed a roadway that had yet to be improved in areas ; the rest of the route, from Ely to Southern California, followed the old Midland Trail, running almost north – south in California.

While Midland currently is the AA affiliate of the Oakland A's, they were affiliated with the Chicago Cubs from 1972 – 1984, and then with the California Angels from 1985-1998.

The largest of these was the purchase of a majority share in Crocker National of California, USA: this was not a success and Midland was forced to take full ownership in 1985 so that it could sell it to Wells Fargo the following year.

Midland School is a small, co-ed, college preparatory boarding school near Los Olivos, California, founded in 1932, by Kent School and Harvard graduate Paul Squibb.

Midland is accredited through 2010 by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, and is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools, the California Association of Independent Schools, the Western Boarding Schools Association, A Better Chance, Inc., The Council for the Advancement and Support of Education, the California Interscholastic Federation, and the National Association for College Admission Counseling.

He returned to the Canaries in 1994, then made one more attempt at a comeback in 1995 with the Midland Angels, the Double-A farm team of the California Angels before retiring.

Born Dan Waren Folger in San Rafael, California, while he was a small boy his family moved to Midland, Texas, where he would make friends with future Roy Orbison collaborator Joe Melson.

He attended Chandler School, Midland School in Los Olivos, California and graduated from Williams College in 1961.

Swisher started the 2003 season with the Modesto A's, Oakland's new California League affiliate, where he batted. 296 in 51 games before receiving a promotion to the Midland Rockhounds of the Class AA Texas League in June.

The Augustana Church was the direct parent to several liberal arts colleges in the United States: Augustana College in Rock Island, IL ; Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN ; Bethany College in Lindsborg, KS ; California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, CA ; Midland Lutheran College in Fremont, NE ; and Upsala College in East Orange, NJ.

He exhibited at the Oakland Museum, DeYoung Museum, California Palace of the Legion of Honor, Crocker Gallery in Stockton, St. Mary's Gallery, Richmond Art Center and the Northwood Gallery in Midland, Michigan.

Founded in Mojave, California in 1999, XCOR announced a move to Midland, Texas in July 2012.

* Ernest Angelo, oilman, former mayor of Midland, and Republican politician

* Warren Chisum, an ally of fellow Republican former Speaker Tom Craddick of Midland, represents Pampa in the Texas House of Representatives and is a 2012 candidate for the Railroad Commission of Texas.

It is part of the former Midland Railway route from Skipton to Ilkley ( which was closed down by British Railways in 1965 14 years earlier ).

From May 2003 until September 2004 Midland Mainline operated an hourly service between St Pancras and Manchester Piccadilly at the request of the Strategic Rail Authority whilst the West Coast Main Line between London Euston and Manchester underwent engineering work using former Virgin CrossCountry High Speed Trains.

* Snow Hill tunnel, south of Farringdon station, was reopened for passenger use in 1988, providing a link between the Midland Main Line, from St Pancras station, and the former Southern Railway, via London Bridge station.

* The former line from Snow Hill to Wolverhampton has been reopened as the Midland Metro tram system.

Long-distance trains from Marylebone began to be scaled back from 1958 after their transfer from BR's Eastern Region to the London Midland Region ( although Marylebone itself, and the first few miles of its route, had belonged to the Western Region since 1950 ), as the former Great Central Main Line was regarded as a duplicate of the Midland Main Line.
