* Might and Magic, a series of computer role-playing games

Might and Magic ( MM ) is a series of role-playing video games from New World Computing, which in 1996 became a subsidiary of The 3DO Company.

Might and Magic is considered one of the defining examples of early PC role-playing games, along with the Bard's Tale, Ultima and Wizardry series.

The original Might and Magic series officially ended with the closure of the 3DO Company.

The rights to the Might and Magic name were purchased for USD 1. 3 million by Ubisoft, who " rebooted " the franchise with a new series with no apparent connection to the previous continuity, starting with the games Heroes of Might and Magic V and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic.

Heroes of Might and Magic III: The Restoration of Erathia ( also known as Heroes III or HOMM3 ) is a turn-based strategy game developed by Jon Van Caneghem through New World Computing for Microsoft Windows and released by the 3DO Company in 1999.

Two expansion packs were released for Heroes IV: Heroes of Might and Magic IV: The Gathering Storm ( 2002 ) and Heroes of Might and Magic IV: Winds of War ( 2003 ), both for Microsoft Windows only.

After a pause of five years ( during which time the Heroes of Might and Magic spin-off franchise was launched ) New World returned to the Might and Magic series with Might and Magic VI: The Mandate of Heaven, their first game to use 3D graphics, and the first to be released for Microsoft Windows.

The final ( as of 2008 ) Might and Magic game was released in 2002 as Might and Magic IX for Windows.

Following the success of the first Heroes game, New World released Heroes of Might and Magic II for Windows 95 and Mac OS.

In 1999, Heroes of Might and Magic III was released for Windows and Mac OS.

Neither of the two expansion packs were released separately for Mac OS, although an omnibus release, entitled Heroes of Might and Magic III Complete was released for both Windows and Mac OS shortly thereafter.

Heroes of Might and Magic IV was released for Windows in 2002 alongside Might and Magic IX, and featured a major overhaul of the series ' gameplay.

In 2001, X, designed by Arrow, opened in Six Flags Magic Mountain.

In addition to incumbents like Silkk the Shocker, C-Murder, Big Ed, Mia X and Mystikal, Master P kept busy by adding producers KLC and Mo B. Dick ( the latter who released his debut album in 1999 ) to Beats By the Pound, along with rappers Mac, Mercedes, Soulja Slim, Full Blooded, Fiend, Magic, Skull Duggery, 2-4-1, R & B quartet Sons of Funk, kiddie duo Lil Soldiers, Short Circuit, Oakland-based pair Steady Mobb ' n, plus Ghetto Commission, Prime Suspects, and the Gambino Family, nearly all of whom would put out records in 1998.

By 2000, only Master P, C-Murder, Silkk, Magic, Mac and Mia X remained from their most celebrated artists.

On September 15, 2008, Six Flags announced a makeover to the Superman roller coaster, adding an in-ride soundtrack and special effects, a makeover also undergoing with Medusa at Six Flags Great Adventure and similar to what was done with X in its conversion to X² in 2008 at Six Flags Magic Mountain.

Bankruptcy loomed once again as Arrow made their final attempt to stay afloat with X, a 4th dimension roller coaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain.

These items consist of the Material Shield and Magic Shield, which makes one ally invunerable to physical attacks and magical attacks for three turns, respectively ; the Power Up and Speed Up items, which double the power or speed of one ally for three turns, respectively ; the Pandemionum, which forces an enemy to attack one ally for three turns, the Speed Down, which halves the speed of an enemy for three turns, the Magic Signet Stone, which blocks a minor enemy's actions for three turns, the Power Down, halving an enemy's attack and defense for three turns, the Smoke Ball, which guarantees escape from battle, and the Psyche Bomb X, a non elemental multi hit attack item which is the strongest in the game.

Fading always appears on Magic cards as " Fading X ".
