The short name for Jiangxi is 赣 ( pinyin: Gàn ; Gan: Gōm ), for the Gan River which runs across from the south to the north and flows into the Yangtze River.

Jiangxi first belonged to Wu ( 吳, Gan: Ng ), then to Southern Tang ( 南唐, Gan: Nām-thóng ).

Jiangxi has a humid subtropical climate ( Cfa under the Köppen climate classification ), with short, cool, damp winters, and very hot, humid summers.

The rest of the survivors attempted to escape to the border region of Jiangxi, Guangdong and Fujian to join the remnant of Taiping forces led by Li Shixian ( 李世贤 ), but on 9 October 1864, they were ambushed by the Imperial Chinese army at Stone Town ( Shi Cheng, 石城 ) and Hong Rengan was captured and subsequently executed on 23 November 1864 at Nanchang ( 南昌 ), Jiangxi.

Meanwhile, Liu Yao, who was by imperial decree the governor of Yang Province ( 揚州 ; covering present-day southern Jiangsu, southern Anhui, Jiangxi, Zhejiang and Fujian ), occupied Qu ' e as the regional seat Shouchun ( 壽春 ; present-day Shou County, Anhui ) was already occupied by Yuan Shu.

After all the surrounding areas were taken over by Sun Ce, Liu Yao gave up the city and escaped south to Yuzhang ( 豫章 ; present-day Nanchang, Jiangxi ), where he would later die.

He was born in Xinjian ( 新建 ), Jiangxi to a family of officials.

He studied music in Jiangxi Provincial Higher Normal School ( 江西省立高等师范学校 Jiāngxī shěnglì gāoděng shīfàn xuéxiào ), and the Ueno Music Academy ( 上野音樂學院 ) in Tokyo.

The Chinese Soviet Republic ( CSR, ), also known as the Soviet Republic of China or the China Soviet Republic, and often referred to in historical literature as the Jiangxi Soviet ( after its largest component territory, the Jiangxi-Fujian Soviet ), was a state established in November 1931 by future Communist Party of China leader, Mao Zedong, general Zhu De and others and lasted until 1937.

With Mao Zedong as both head of state (" 國家主席 ", ' state chairman ') and government (" 總理 ", prime minister ), the Jiangxi Soviet gradually expanded, reaching a peak of more than 30, 000 square kilometres and a population that numbered more than three million, covering considerable parts of two provinces ( with Tingzhou in Fujian ).

With the help of Liu Yafo ( 劉亞佛 ) and Lu Zhiying ( 盧志英 ), the communist agents copied the important intelligence onto four dictionaries and Xiang Yunian ( 項與年 ) was tasked to take the intelligence personally to the Jiangxi Soviet.

Jingdezhen, or the Town of Jingde ), is a prefecture-level city, previously a town, in Jiangxi Province, China, with a total population of 1, 554, 000 ( 2007 ).

On October 23, Lin Sen, Jiang Qun ( 蔣群 ), Cai Hui ( 蔡蕙 ) and other members of the Tongmenghui in the province of Jiangxi plotted a revolt of New Army units.

In 1278 Wen Tianxiang, who had fought against the Yuan in Guangdong and Jiangxi, was captured by Wang Weiyi in Haifeng County, eliminating all the Song land forces nearby.
