Much like the Brethren of the Common Life, he wrote that the New Testament is the law of Christ people are called to obey and Christ is the example they are called to imitate.

While imprisoned at Launceston Fox wrote, " Christ our Lord and master saith ' Swear not at all, but let your communications be yea, yea, and nay, nay, for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

“ He that is not of Christ is of Antichrist ,” he wrote to Pope Damasus I.

" ` Abdu ' l-Bahá also wrote that " her reality is ever shining from the horizon of Christ ," " her face is shining and beaming forth on the horizon of the universe forevermore " and that " her candle is, in the assemblage of the world, lighted till eternity.

Smith later wrote that he had seen a vision of God the Father and Jesus Christ in spring 1820 in answer to his question of which denomination he should join.

As he wrote to the Amsterdam Chamber of the Dutch West India Company in 1654 he hoped that " the deceitful race, – such hateful enemies and blasphemers of the name of Christ, – be not allowed to further infect and trouble this new colony.

The emphasis on the salvific nature of the Resurrection continued in Christian theology in the next centuries, e. g., in the 8th century Saint John of Damascus wrote that: "... When he had freed those who were bound from the beginning of time, Christ returned again from among the dead, having opened for us the way to resurrection " and Christian iconography of the ensuing years represented that concept.

Apostle Paul wrote that: " If there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ has not been raised ; if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain ... If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile ".

By the mid-2nd century, Justin Martyr, who attended worship on the first day, wrote about the cessation of Sabbath observance and stated that Sabbath was enjoined as a temporary sign to Israel because of Israel's sinfulness, no longer needed after Christ came without sin.

In his 1882 book, The Relations of the Church to Society — Theological Essays, a Jesuit theologian, Father Edmund J. O ' Reilly, wrote: "... not that an interregnum covering the whole period would have been impossible or inconsistent with the promises of Christ, for this is by no means manifest.

:* Cyprian wrote of them " How, when God the Father is not known -- nay, is even blasphemed -- can they who among the heretics are said to be baptized in the name of Christ only, be judged to have obtained the remission of sins?

This is how he wrote A Treatise on the Passion ( Treatise on the Passion of Christ ), A Treatise to Receive the Blessed Body ( Holy Body Treaty ), and De Tristitia Christi ( The Agony of Christ ), which reads his own hand in the Tower of London at the time he was confined before his beheading on 6 July 1535.

In about 150, Justin Martyr wrote of the Eucharist: " Not as common bread and common drink do we receive these ; but in like manner as Jesus Christ our Savior, having been made flesh by the Word of God, had both flesh and blood for our salvation, so likewise have we been taught that the food which is blessed by the prayer of His word, and from which our blood and flesh by transmutation are nourished, is the flesh and blood of that Jesus who was made flesh.

Justin Martyr wrote, in Dialogue with Trypho, ch 70: " Now it is evident, that in this prophecy to the bread which our Christ gave us to eat, in remembrance of His being made flesh for the sake of His believers, for whom also He suffered ; and to the cup which He gave us to drink, in remembrance of His own blood, with giving of thanks.

If death receives more than its share of attention from the theologian and if sin receives less than its share, the gift of the life eternal through Christ begins to look like the divinely appointed means of rescue from temporal, i.e., created, existence.

If then any man is in Christ, he is a new creature ( literally, `` He is a new creation ), the former things have passed away ; ;

If the candidate relies on sponsors, the celebrant asks them if they will raise the child in " the Christian faith and life " ( ECUSA BCP ), and will raise the child through " prayers and witness to grow into the full stature of Christ " to which the parents will state to each, " I will, with God's help.

If anyone says that it is not from the institution of Christ the Lord Himself, or by divine right that the blessed Peter has perpetual successors in the primacy over the universal Church, or that the Roman Pontiff is not the successor of blessed Peter in the same primacy, let him be anathema.

" If as Oneness believe, that God the Father was incarnate in Christ, which Jesus confessed (" it is the Father in me that doeth the work "), the Father was in Christ during all of the sufferings and being nailed to the cross.

As Paul the Apostle stated: " If Christ was not raised, then all our preaching is useless, and your trust in God is useless.

If the light yoke and sweet burden of Christ were to be preached to the most obstinate people of the Saxons with as much determination as the payment of tithes has been exacted, or as the force of the legal decree has been applied for fault of the most trifling sort imaginable, perhaps they would not be averse to their baptismal vows.

As man can live only by dying, so it was only by his dying that Christ could bring many to life.

The Christ, as both God and Man, is seen in Christian theology as fulfilling this role in the redemption of man and of the earth and in the final judgment against evil.

Although the Bible never says " Jesus is God ", trinity based theology summarily claims: " Jesus Christ was fully God and fully man in one person, and will be so forever.

Saint Paul viewed the Nativity of Jesus as an event of cosmic significance which by the Incarnation of Christ brought forth a new world of harmony to undo the damage caused by the fall of the first man, Adam.

Following in the Pauline tradition, in the 5th century Saint Augustine viewed Christ as the mediator of the New Covenant between God and man and as the conqueror over sin.

He viewed Christ as the cause and reason for the reconciliation of man with God after the fall of Adam, and he saw in Christ the path to Christian salvation.
