Courtney Michelle Harrison was born in 1964 in San Francisco, California, to Linda Carroll, now a psychotherapist, and Hank Harrison, a publisher who had some association with the Grateful Dead ; consequently, Love was included in a group picture on the back of the band's album Aoxomoxoa ( 1969 ).

His bands have included Watt 4 ( 1980 ), in which he played keyboards and provided voice, Craig Charles and the Beat Burglars ( 1989 ), The Sons of Gordon Gekko ( 1989 ), where he wrote lyrics and also composed tunes for the band, and The Eye ( 2000 – 01 ), with whom he released the rock album " Giving You The Eye, Live at the Edinburgh Festival ".

In 1987, Charles provided the poem track used for the opening credits of the BBC series The Marksman, which he also acted in, and the track is included on the album " The Marksman: Music from the BBC TV series ".

This mix was included on the album Ayu-mi-x 6: Gold.

Further international success came in the UK and Europe with their third and fourth albums, Woodface and Together Alone and the compilation album Recurring Dream, which included the hits " Fall at Your Feet ", " Weather with You ", " Distant Sun ", " Locked Out ", " Instinct " and " Not the Girl You Think You Are ".

In the mid-1980s, the band was embroiled in an obscenity trial in the United States over the artwork of their album Frankenchrist ( 1985 ), which included the explicit titular subject of H. R. Giger's Penis Landscape.

Also in 1974, Gloria Gaynor released the first side-long disco mix vinyl album, which included a remake of The Jackson 5's " Never Can Say Goodbye " and two other songs, " Honey Bee " and " Reach Out ( I'll Be There )".

The Jacksons ( previously The Jackson 5 ) did many disco songs from 1975 to 1980, including " Shake Your Body ( Down to the Ground )" ( 1978 ), " Blame it on the Boogie " ( 1978 ), and " Can You Feel It " ( 1980 )— all sung by Michael Jackson, whose 1979 solo album, Off the Wall, included several disco hits, including the album's title song, " Rock with You ", " Workin ' Day and Night ", and his second chart-topping solo hit in the disco genre, " Don't Stop ' til You Get Enough ".

Nonetheless, on the strength of these unusual time signatures ( the album included " Take Five ", " Blue Rondo à la Turk ", and " Three To Get Ready "), it quickly went platinum.

Other songs written by McLean for the album included “ Dreidel ” ( number 21 on the Billboard chart ) and “ If We Try ” ( number 58 ), which was subsequently recorded by Olivia Newton-John.

The fourth album, Playin ' Favorites was a top-40 hit in the UK in 1973 and included the Irish folk classic, " Mountains of Mourne " and Buddy Holly ’ s " Everyday ", a live rendition of which returned McLean to the UK Singles Chart.

This album included two songs used in the Slaughterhouse Rock soundtrack.

Although the single sold poorly, the popularity of Jones's appearance on the show resulted in " Girl " becoming his best remembered solo hit, even though it was not included in the album.

In 1965, the Miracles was the first Motown group to adapt a name change when they were listed as Smokey Robinson & The Miracles on the cover of their 1965 album, also titled, Going to a Go-Go.

After the release of a 35th anniversary commemorative compilation album in 1993, Ronnie White and Bobby Rogers decided to regroup the Miracles yet again, with Dave Finley returning to the fold and Sidney Justin, formerly of Shalamar, replacing Carl Cotton.

Carpenter's tenth studio album, The Age of Miracles was released on April 27, 2010.

In late 2011, Carpenter announced via Facebook and Twitter that she was hard at work on a follow-up album to The Age of Miracles.

On each album, he was backed by The Country of Miracles ; The Grand Bounce is credited to " Gord Downie and The Country of Miracles ".

The Country of Miracles have backed Downie for each of his solo albums, but this is the first album to be credited this way.

The Miracles version later appeared on their 1968 Special Occasion album ; with a slightly different take, possibly from the same session but unreleased, appearing on the 1998 compilation album, Motown Sings Motown Treasures.
