The chhatri of Malhar Rao Holkar at Alampur is great archaeology chhatri in Bhind district

* Alampur-Maharani Ahilya Bai Holkar built the chhatri of Malhar Rao Holkar at Alampur in Bhind district in 1766 A. D.

The chhatri, seen in Indian architecture, fits the definition of a cupola when it is used atop a larger structure.

In some places, the interior of the chhatri is painted in the same manner as the Haveli.

A distinguishing feature is the row of chhatri over the sanctuary.

* Panch Mahal: A five-storied palatial structure, with the tiers gradually diminishing in size, till the final one, which is a single large-domed chhatri.

To the left of the fort is the chhatri of Kirat Singh Soda, a soldier who fell on the spot defending the Mehrangarh fort.

The chhatri of Maharaja Surat Singh is most imposing.

The tower is topped by an octagonal chhatri supported by eight pillars and decorated with white marble.

The Hindu chhatri ( small cupola ) on top is used as a platform for announcing eclipses and the arrival of monsoons.

The term chhatri, used for these canopylike structures, comes from Hindustani word literally meaning umbrella, and are found throughout the northwestern region of Rajasthan as well as in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.

It was repaired by Major R. Smith of the Royal Engineers who restored the Qutub Minar in 1223 replacing the cupola with a Bengali-style chhatri which was later removed by Governor General, Lord Hardinge in 1848, as it looked out of place, and now stands in the outer lawns of the complex, popularly known as Smith's Folly.

Set in a narrow valley, the cenotaphs of the former rulers of Jaipur consist of the somewhat typical chhatri or umbrella-shaped memorials.

A widely used transform in this regard is the Discrete Cosine Transform ( DCT ), developed by in 1974 by N. Ahmed, T. Natarajan and K. R. Rao ; see Reference 1 in discrete cosine transform.

The most common variant of discrete cosine transform is the type-II DCT, which is often called simply " the DCT ", ( N. Ahmed, T. Natarajan and K. R. Rao, 1974 ; K. R. Rao and P. Yip, 1990 ); its inverse, the type-III DCT, is correspondingly often called simply " the inverse DCT " or " the IDCT ".

The DCT, and in particular the DCT-II, is often used in signal and image processing, especially for lossy data compression, because it has a strong " energy compaction " property ( Ahmed, Natarajan and Rao, 1974 ; Rao and Yip, 1990 ): most of the signal information tends to be concentrated in a few low-frequency components of the DCT, approaching the Karhunen-Loève transform ( which is optimal in the decorrelation sense ) for signals based on certain limits of Markov processes.

The DCT-II is probably the most commonly used form, and is often simply referred to as " the DCT " ( Ahmed, Natarajan, Rao 1974 ); ( Rao & Yip, 1990 ).

Although usually depicted as a Red giant or Red supergiant, in this story Rao is mentioned by Jor-El to be a Red dwarf.

This advantage, however, comes at the price of greater computational requirements if compared, for example and when applicable, to the discrete cosine transform, and in particular to the DCT-II which is simply known as the " DCT "; introduced by N. Ahmed, T. Natarajan and K. R. Rao in 1974 ; see Reference 1 of discrete cosine transform.
