How the Gospel text that was a standard in Syriac Christianity for possibly as long as two centuries should have utterly disappeared requires explaining.

These two sections are probably the original Syriac and Middle Persian written by Mani.

The Old Syriac gospels are fragmentarily preserved in two manuscripts: the 5th-century Curetonian Syriac and the Sinaitic Syriac from the 4th or 5th century.

The commentary survives in two Georgian manuscripts, a Greek epitome, a Paleo-Slavonic florilegium, and fragments in Armenian and Syriac.

Our Lady of Deliverance Syriac Catholic Diocese in the United States and Canada has nine parishes ; seven in the United States and two in Canada.

Materials for his life are furnished by two Syriac biographies by his contemporary, John of Ephesus, whom Jacobus ordained bishop of Ephesus, printed by Land, and by the third part of the Ecclesiastical History of the same author.

In obedience to his parent's vow, Jacobus was placed at the age of two in the local monastery under the care of abbot Eustathius, and trained in Greek and Syriac literature and in the strictest asceticism.

Syriac Christianity is divided into two major traditions: Eastern Rite, historically centered in Assyria / Mesopotamia, and West Syrian, centered in Antioch.

This palimpsest is the oldest copy of the gospels in Syriac, one of two surviving manuscripts ( the other being the Curetonian Gospels ) that possibly predate the Peshitta ( although this is debated ), the standard Syriac translation of the Bible.

One way to explain much of the confusion concerning Ammonius is to assume that there were two people called Ammonius: Ammonius Saccas who taught Plotinus, and an Ammonius the Christian who wrote biblical texts.

There is also some speculation that there may have been two presses, one for the pedestrian texts, and one for the Bible.
