It is a possibility that by entering the race track she was trying to attach a flag to Anmer, the horse owned by King George V, so that when the horse crossed the finishing line, it would be flying the WSPU flag.

Horse-racing historian Michael Tanner, in a 2011 television interview at Epsom, pointed out that as Emily Davison was standing on the inside of the bend at Tattenham Corner, amidst heaving crowds, and with no racetrack commentary like there is today, it would in fact have been impossible for her to have any idea whether the King's horse Anmer had in fact already gone past or not when she stepped out onto the racecourse to make her protest ; and that at the speeds the horses were going it would not have been practicable for her to identify any particular horse anyway even if she'd meant to.

The estate is also home to York Cottage, built by Edward VII soon after he moved in ; York Cottage was also a favourite of George V. Anmer Hall on the grounds is a Georgian house that was at one point the country home of the Duke of Kent.

He was well rid of her.

He certainly didn't want a wife who was fickle as Ann.

Her parents had a house, Anmer Hall, on the King's Sandringham estate, which led to her socialising with the royal family.

They moved into the house in February of the following year, having left Anmer Hall, their Norfolk home of eighteen years.

Anmer Hall is situated in the Norfolk village of Anmer in England, about two miles east of The Queen's residence at Sandringham.

In February 1990 the Duke and Duchess of Kent left Anmer Hall, moving to Crocker End House.

The current residents of Anmer Hall are the Everett family, who own the well known kitchen and timber company Norfolk Oak.

The Everetts moved in to Anmer Hall in 2000.
