A heritage railway, the Bodmin and Wenford Railway, runs from Bodmin Parkway station via Bodmin General railway station to Boscarne Junction where there is access to the Camel Trail.

Sections of the now-disused railway have been opened as the Strawberry Line Trail, which currently runs from Yatton to Cheddar.

The Greenstone Ridge is a high ridge in the center of the island and carries the longest trail in the park, the Greenstone Ridge Trail, which runs 40 miles ( 60 km ) from one end of the island to the other.

The Confederation Trail runs alongside its eastern boundary.

The land falls steeply downwards to the north and the west of the castle, and the Sandstone Trail, a long-distance footpath, runs along the base of these slopes.

The Half Dome Cables Route hike runs from the valley floor to the top of the dome in ( via the Mist Trail ), with of elevation gain.

Along the Niagara River, the Niagara River Recreational Trail runs the 35 miles ( 56 km ) from Fort Erie to Fort George, and includes many historical sites from the War of 1812.

Ski country runs through Cattaraugus County ; two ski resorts, popular with Canadians, lie in the town of Ellicottville ; in addition, several snowmobile trails cross the county, including the Pat McGee Trail, a flagship for the county's trail system, and the North Country Trail.

Examples include Santa Barbara, which contains Alameda Padre Serra ( Father Serra's Street ), running from Mission Santa Barbara along the base of the Riviera, the hill overlooking the city ; Serra Cross Park in Ventura, site of the cross Serra erected at Mission San Buenaventura's founding ; and San Diego, in which Father Junipero Serra Trail runs through the Mission Trails Regional Park to Santee.

The Jack Stevens Trail runs through the city.

The Michigan Shore-to-Shore Trail ( also known as the Michigan Riding and Hiking Trail ) is a long trail that runs between Empire on Lake Michigan and Oscoda on Lake Huron across the Lower Peninsula of Michigan.

The South West Coast Path National Trail runs through the town, and gives access to walks along the rugged North Devon coast.

Also a small portion of the Appalachian Trail runs through the county.

A walking, jogging, and biking trail called the Los Gatos Creek Trail runs alongside much of the creek from Lexington Dam through Vasona Park and Campbell to Meridian Avenue in San Jose.

The Conotton Creek Trail is a rails-to-trails path that runs along Conotton Creek from Bowerston to Jewett in northern Harrison County, Ohio.

The 162-mile Cohos Trail runs the length of the county.

The Thames Path National Trail which runs to the source of the River Thames at Kemble begins at nearby Crayford Ness.

The Cabot Trail, circling the Cape Breton Highlands, and Trunk 19, along the western coast of the island, are important secondary roads.

In the Vietnam War, communist forces used bicycles extensively as cargo carriers along the Ho Chi Minh Trail.

The building is a designated stop along the Appalachian Trail.

There are also examples of graffiti occurring in American history, such as Signature Rock, a national landmark along the Oregon Trail.

In 1837, it purchased Fort Hall, also along the route of the Oregon Trail, where the outpost director displayed the abandoned wagons of discouraged settlers to those seeking to move west along the trail.

Company trapping brigades were sent south from Fort Vancouver, along what became known as the Siskiyou Trail, into Northern California as far south as the San Francisco Bay Area.

After gaining experience as a teamster along the Santa Fe Trail and in Mexico, Carson signed on with a party of forty men, led by Ewing Young which in August, 1829 went into Apache country along the Gila River.

In 1833 John McCoy established West Port along the Santa Fe Trail, three miles ( 5 km ) away from the river.

As the economy of the Sacramento Valley grew, the Southern Pacific Railroad established tracks along the river to connect California with Oregon following the ancient path of the Siskiyou Trail, in the 1880s and 1890s.

Bournedale Hills Trail extends 1. 4 mi ( 2. 25 km ) along the north side of the Canal from Bourne Scenic Park campground to the Herring Run.

The area had terrible terrain with the Kall Trail running along a deep river ravine.

Today tourists can visit a museum in Vossenack, look at a few of the surviving Siegfried Line bunkers, and take a walk along the infamous Kall Trail.

These combined stage and Pony Express stations along the Oregon Trail and Central Route across Utah and Nevada were joined by the First Transcontinental Telegraph stations and telegraph line which followed much the same route in 1861 from Carson City, Nevada to Salt Lake City, Utah.

The Gila Trail going along the Gila River in Arizona, across the Colorado River and then across the Sonora Desert in California was scouted by Stephen Kearny's troops and later by Captain Philip St. George Cooke's Mormon Battalion in 1846 who were the first to take a wagon the whole way.

Today much of the Oregon Trail follows roughly along Interstate 80 from Wyoming to Grand Island, Nebraska.

They rendezvoused with Cherokee tribe members along the Arkansas River in present-day Oklahoma and continued westward along the Santa Fe Trail.

Red Cloud's War ( 1866 – 1868 ) was a challenge by the Lakota Sioux to the United States military presence on the Bozeman Trail, a route along the eastern edge of the Big Horn Mountains to the Montana gold fields.
