Another youth Mehmed found attractive, and who was presumably more accommodating, was Radu III the Fair, the brother of the famous Vlad the Impaler, “ Radu, a hostage in Istanbul whose good looks had caught the Sultan ’ s fancy, and who was thus singled out to serve as one of his most favored pages .” After the defeat of Vlad, Mehmed placed Radu on the throne of Wallachia as a vassal ruler.

The Wallachian prince Vlad Dracul ( father of Vlad the Impaler ( Dracula ), who lived in exile in the town, let coins to be minted in the city ( otherwise coinage was the monopoly of the Hungarian kings in the Kingdom of Hungary ) and issued the first document listing the city's Romanian name, Sighişoara.

( Saberhagen depicts Dracula as the historical figure Vlad Ţepeş, who as woiwode of Wallachia was known as Drakulya, who in Saberhagen's stories became a vampire by simply refusing to die, " by a transcendent act of will " as the character describes it in the book.

This character was created by the Irish fiction writer Bram Stoker, based on some stories spread in the late Middle Ages by the frustrated German trademen of Kronstadt ( Braṣov ) and on some Balkan folklore tales about the historic Romanian figure of Prince Vlad Ţepeş.

Similar to Count Vlad III Dracula of Transylvania in Vampire stories, the most popular characters are the clan of Teñente / Tenyente / Tiniente Gimo of the town of Dueñas, Iloilo.

Vlad III Dracula and Ivan the Terrible have passed into legend as major users of the method.

He and his wife Elena have a son, Vlad Stolojan, and a daughter, Ada Palea.

These privileges have been later reinforced by Vlad III the Impaler, who stated that the roads to be taken by the salesmen were to be: via Rucăr, Prahova, Teleajen or Buzău.

The Wallachian ruler Vlad Ţepeş ( Vlad the Impaler ) 1448-1476 does not seem to have had a significant role in the history of the fortress, although he passed several times through the Bran Gorge.

Vlad II Dracul was a member of the House of Drăculeşti lineage, and son of Mircea cel Bătrân, and was known to have murdered members of the rival princely House of Dăneşti, a not-so-distant relation to his own father's House of Basarab, and gained power in Wallachia, upon returning from exile in Transylvania in 1436.

He claims to have ruled hundreds of civilizations under hundreds of names: Khafre, Cheops ( builder of the pyramids ), Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar ( though he has also claimed to have participated in the murder of Julius Caesar, but Pre-Crisis he claimed history was inaccurate and Brutus failed ), Genghis Khan, Blackbeard, and Vlad the Impaler, to name a few.

Vlad is believed to have learned combat skills, geography, mathematics, science, languages ( Old Church Slavonic, German, Latin ), and the classical arts and philosophy.

Two of Vlad Tepes ' sons, Vlad Țepeluș and Mihnea I " the Bad ", have been claimed to be ancestors of Mary of Teck, grand-mother of Elizabeth II, Queen of Great Britain.

Vlad refused, because if he had paid the ' tribute ', as the tax was called at the time, it would have meant a public acceptance of Wallachia as part of the Ottoman Empire.

While Hunyadi's victory at Belgrade and the lasting legacy of his political decisions ( Vlad III the Impaler and Stephen III both came to power under Hunyadi, and he went to great lengths to have his son Matthias placed on the throne ) rendered the daunting Mehmed II far less of a threat to Christendom, his ultimate dream of a Christian reconquest of Constantinople would never be realized.
