Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther ( c. 1809 – 31 December 1891 ) was a linguist and the first African Anglican bishop in Nigeria.
Dr. Samuel Ajayi Crowther was a Yoruba man who also identified with Sierra Leone's ascendant Creole ethnic group.
He was the grandson of bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther and the son of the founder of the first secondary school in Nigeria, the CMS Grammar School, Lagos.
