The only inter-city passenger railroad service to Memphis for many decades has been the daily City of New Orleans train, operated by Amtrak, which has one train northbound and one train southbound each day between Chicago and New Orleans.

The Richmond area also has two railroad stations served by Amtrak.

* Kalamazoo has rail service provided by Amtrak, with the station located downtown and combined with a newly renovated bus terminal.

Dixon has been selected for a future Amtrak station.

* Amtrak has a station in Davis.

The city also has twice-daily Amtrak service at Winslow ( Amtrak station ) ( one train eastbound and one westbound ).

Littlerock has motorcoach feeder service to Amtrak California's San Joaquin trains, available at the MB Grocery Discount.

The Amtrak bus / shuttle has one stop in North Weed.

Amtrak has two trains that stop in Elkhart: ( Lake Shore Limited and Capital Limited ).

The town has a rail line, operated by CSX and used by Amtrak.

A statue of Hill stands near the Havre Amtrak station to commemorate the key contributions his railroad has made to Havre's and Montana's history.

There are no passenger stations located in Concord, but Amtrak has stations located in the adjacent cities of Kannapolis and Charlotte.

Porter Stage Lines provides bus service from Coos Bay, Oregon with several stops, including Eugene, which has connections with Amtrak rail services and the Greyhound bus network.

After the assumption of intercity rail passenger services by Amtrak in 1971, it has been bypassed by all Amtrak, except for the period from April 30, 1978 to October 29, 1983 when the Chesapeake stopped once daily in each direction between Philadelphia and Washington.

The Amtrak Auto Train to and from Florida has Lorton as its northern terminal.

Staples has an Amtrak station and a municipal airport.

The position light signal aspect was originally devised by the Pennsylvania Railroad but was continued by its successor Amtrak and has been adopted by Metro North.

Amtrak has since dropped these two limited-stop trains .< ref name =" Amtrak Northeast Corridor 1 train schedule effective August 4, 2008 ">

NJT normally has the exclusive use of tracks 1 – 4, and shares tracks 5 – 16 with Amtrak and tracks 13 – 16 with the LIRR as well.

Amtrak has a freight railyard connected to the Northeast Corridor line at Adams Station, located in the vicinity of Adams Lane and Route 1.

The proposed Atlanta Multimodal Passenger Terminal ( MMPT ) would be built next to Five Points station, connecting MARTA to surface passenger rail, including commuter rail, future intercity rail, Amtrak, and possible high-speed rail in the Southeast Corridor.

After significant ridership gains in 1984 PennDOT proposed to Amtrak that a second frequency be added to the route.

* Operations: Amtrak proposed moving the Lake Shore Limited to an earlier eastbound departure time from Chicago.

On March 1, 1968, WMATA approved its Adopted Regional System ( ARS ) plan that included suburban mass transit lines that followed the median of the proposed Interstate 66 through Virginia to Vienna and the CSX / Amtrak railroad right-of-way in Prince George's County, Maryland.

The proposed movie series is entitled The Talisman Prophecy rather than The Amtrak Wars and continues the practice from the revised edition of naming the Amtrak Federation as ' The Lone Star Confederation '.

It would follow the right of way of the former Penn Central / New Haven Railroad mainline ( current Amtrak Northeast Corridor ) running from Readville, north through Forest Hills and Jamaica Plain, where it would meet the proposed I-695 ( Inner Belt Expressway ).

A study conducted by Amtrak in 2009 resulted in four proposed service extensions:

" Amtrak proposed merging the North Coast Hiawatha and the Empire Builder, or even cancelling both.

Amtrak published a feasibility study in October 2009, which proposed restoring the North Coast Hiawatha to its 1979 route where possible with a daily schedule.

It is also located near the Union Pacific mainline that Amtrak has proposed to use for a high-speed train to California.

Bombardier have since used updated versions of the LRC carriages and their tilt systems in the Acela Express electric high-speed trains they developed for Amtrak in the late 1990s, the Super Voyager in the United Kingdom and in the experimental JetTrain recently proposed for several corridors in Canada and the United States.

VTA, on the other hand, provides several express and commuter buses that serve San Jose, Milpitas, and other attractions in the South Bay, and its services act as a connector along the only part of the ring around the Bay without rail connections ( the closest such station, Fremont-Centerville Amtrak & Altamont Commuter Express station, is about two miles away ; the nearest Capitol Corridor station is at Hayward, although one is proposed for Union City ).

Hampton is served by several Amtrak trains a day, with direct service from a station in nearby Newport News ( on Warwick Boulevard just west of Mercury Boulevard ) through Williamsburg and Richmond to points along the Northeast Corridor from Washington DC through Baltimore, Philadelphia, and New York City all the way to Boston.

Meridian Main Street organized several projects to revitalize downtown, including the construction of a new Amtrak Station in 1997 based on the design of the historic train station used during Meridian's Golden Age ; it had been demolished.

Amtrak Cascades trains, operating as far north as Vancouver, British Columbia and as far south as Eugene, Oregon, serve Centralia several times daily in both directions.

* 1971: Congress creates Amtrak and eliminates several passenger routes.

An Amtrak railway station opened at the airport in 2005 ; the station is served by Amtrak's Hiawatha Service line running between Chicago and Milwaukee several times daily.

In Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, and several other TV movies involving ill-fated long-distance train rides, all Amtrak logos were removed from the train.

Created only two years earlier in 1968 from a merger of several other railroads, it marked the end of long-haul private-sector US passenger train services, and forced the creation of the government-owned Amtrak on May 1, 1971.

Hiawatha Service, or Hiawatha, is the name of an train route operated by Amtrak on the western shore of Lake Michigan, although the name was historically applied to several different routes that extended across the Midwest and out to the Pacific Ocean.

The San Joaquin is equipped with Amtrak California-fleet ( bi-level, high-capacity ) passenger cars of several types: coach-baggage car, cafe ( dining ) car, coach car, cab car, and cab-baggage car.

Although several named passenger trains survived through the Amtrak era, many were renamed or combined with other services.

Earlier versions, operating in several other Amtrak corridors, are sometimes called “ cabbage cars ” because they serve as both a cab control car and a baggage car.

Amtrak returned the remaining sets to service over several weeks starting in late September 2007, with the final set returning around October 21.

The highway passes several industrial facilities in Halethorpe as it crosses the Amtrak Northeast Corridor and MARC's Penn Line and Herbert Run.

The Amtrak station, which is served by the Silver Meteor and Silver Star, is located several blocks away and is scheduled to be moved to the new Miami Central Station in 2013.

The crash also impacted MARC passenger train service for several days ; bus routes were set up by the city to ferry passengers to and from the BWI Amtrak / MARC station as an alternate route.

Amtrak Pacific Surfliner trains stop at several locations in Los Angeles County, including Glendale, Bob Hope Airport in Burbank, Chatsworth, and Van Nuys.

In the early 1990s, the Cardinal ran with the usual Amtrak long-distance consist of two F40s / E60 plus several MHC and material handling baggage cars, followed by several Amfleet coaches, an Amfleet lounge, a Heritage diner, two or three Heritage 10-6 sleepers, a slumbercoach, and finally, a baggage dormitory car.

On June 14, 1999, after a 20-year absence, passenger rail service between Oklahoma and Texas was reinstated, The Heartland Flyer has proven to be very successful and popular with Amtrak patrons, achieving a number one customer satisfaction rating for several years running.

* November 1 – Amtrak discontinues the Palmetto south of Savannah, Georgia, replacing rail service to several towns in western Central Florida with Thruway Motorcoach bus service.

The DeLand Amtrak station is located several miles west of downtown DeLand, at the location formerly known as DeLand Junction.

However, after a series of derailments involving Amtrak SDP40F units that were equipped with " hollow bolster " HT-C trucks, applied only to the SDP40F, Conrail ordered the SD40-2 units and several orders of SD50s with the older Flexicoil trucks, but the fate of the HT-C truck was vindicated, and this truck ultimately went under most 40 Series, 50 Series and 60 Series six-axle locomotives, and this truck is still found under many remanufactured locomotives.

The second Union Station opened in 1919 on the site of the original one, and was last used on January 3, 1974 ( Amtrak now stops several miles north ).
