Pei was more intrigued by modern architecture, and also felt intimidated by the high level of drafting proficiency shown by other students.

A ground-level corridor through Buildings 16, 56, and 66 forms an eastern extension of the Infinite Corridor, ending at Ames Street across from a ceremonial archway designed by I. M. Pei, next to the MIT Media Lab.

In Chapter 18, where he still served under Lü Bu, Zhang Liao was sent with a force to attack Liu Bei at Xiaopei ( 小沛, present day Pei County, Jiangsu ).
