Other well-known rabbis who are reincarnationists include Rabbi Yonassan Gershom, Rabbi Abraham Isaac Kook, Talmud scholar Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz, Rabbi DovBer Pinson, Rabbi David M. Wexelman, Rabbi Zalman Schachter, and many others.

* The Shulchan Aruch HaRav of Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi ( c. 1800 ) was an attempt to recodify the law as it stood at that time — incorporating commentaries on the Shulchan Aruch, and subsequent responsa — and thus stating the decided halakha, as well as the underlying reasoning.

Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi wrote that " Rashi ’ s commentary on Torah is the ‘ wine of Torah ’.

In the Ashkenazi community of Eastern Europe, later religious authorities including the Vilna Gaon ( d. 1797 ) and Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi ( d. 1812 ) ( The Baal HaTanya ) believed in the authenticity of the Zohar.

Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi explains that the parallel between anger and idol worship is that by becoming angry, one shows a disregard of Divine Providence-whatever had caused the anger was ultimately ordained from Above-and that through coming to anger one thereby denies the hand of G-d in one's life.

In 1961, Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi designed the rainbow tallit ( prayer shawl ) as a symbol of the Kabalah for the members of the Jewish Bene Ohr (" The Children of Light ").

Chabad of Penn Wynne, originally located in Rabbi Zalman Gerber's house, moved to a store front on Manoa Road across the street from the new synagogue building of Congregation Beth Hamedrosh soon after the latter moved in, but Chabad moved out three years later following the termination of the storefront lease at the end of May 2010.

Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi wrote a Shulchan Aruch at the behest of the Hasidic leader, Rabbi Dovber of Mezeritch.

In halachic matters, he normally deferred to members of the Crown Heights Beth Din headed by Rabbi Zalman Shimon Dvorkin, and advised the movement to do likewise in the event of his death.

Chabad was founded in the late 18th century by Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi.

* Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi ( 1745 – 1812 ), was the youngest student of Rabbi Dovber of Mezeritch and founded the Chabad dynasty ( he is known as the Alter Rebbe ).

In Jewish lore, blood libels were the impetus for the creation of the Golem of Prague by Rabbi Judah Loew ben Bezalel in the 16th century.

An example of how different views of the origin of Jewish law inform Conservative approaches to interpreting that law involves the CJLS's acceptance of Rabbi Elie Kaplan Spitz's responsum decreeing the Biblical category of mamzer as " inoperative ", in which The CJLS adopted the Responsum's view that of how, in the Conservative view of Halakha, the " morality which we learn through the unfolding narrative of our tradition " informs the application of Mosaic law:

The Orthodox Jewish community made every attempt to persuade Rabbi Zweigenhaft to remain, even offering to fund his weekly journey from Switzerland.

After telling the audience " I shall now read to you the scroll of the Establishment of the State, which has passed its first reading by the National Council ", Ben-Gurion proceeded to read out the declaration, taking 16 minutes, ending with the words " Let us accept the Foundation Scroll of the Jewish State by rising " and calling on Rabbi Fishman to recite the Shehecheyanu blessing.

Although nearing ordination at the Yeshiva University's Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary, he transferred to the Jewish Theological Seminary of America ( JTSA ), where he was ordained in 1934 and received the advanced Jewish legal degree of Hattarat Hora ’ ah under the great talmudic scholar Rabbi Professor Louis Ginzberg.
