Ibn and Qayyim
In the 14th century, the Syrian-born Ibn Qayyim proposed the Milky Way galaxy to be " a myriad of tiny stars packed together in the sphere of the fixed stars ".
Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyya also posited that human reason could discern between ' great sins ' and good deeds.
Ibn Qayyim ( 1292 – 1350 ) opined that non-Muslims were entitled to such practices since they could not be presented to sharia courts and the religious minorities in question held it permissible.
Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyya also mentions the merits of vinegar in his book, Al Tibb al Nabawi ( The Prophetic Medicine ).
According to the famous Islamic legal scholar Ibn Qayyim ( 1292 – 1350 ), non-Muslims had the right to engage in such religious practices even if it offended Muslims, under the conditions that such cases not be presented to Islamic Sharia courts and that these religious minorities believed that the practice in question is permissible according to their religion.
* c. 1300 – Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyya, in his criticism of astrology, recognized that the stars are much larger than the planets, and that Mercury is the smallest planet known to him.
This interpretation is said by Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyah ( 1292 – 1350 ) to have come from the People of the Book, though earlier Christian scholarship identifies the cornerstone with Jesus.
His student Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyya wrote the famous poem " O Christ-Worshipper " which examined the dogma of the Trinity propounded by many Christian sects.
The most famous of his students, Ibn Qayyim, was to share in Ibn Taymiyyah's renewed persecutions.
Other scholars, like Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyya, made use of his chronological ordering of events.
